Make sure you climb the wooden steps of Temple II that is at the back of the temple. The views from the top are the classic photos that everyone sees of Tikal. Though you've seen the pictures, its still best to experience the views on...More

There is a wooden staircase in the back of the temple that you can safely climb to the top of this temple for the amazing views of the entire park.

We loved the fact that you could climb to the top of this temple and get 360 degree views across the entire Mayan site. It is not a difficult climb, circa 50 steps but well worth it for the views.

You can climb to a balcony and overlook the very well preserved area from this temple. Incredible temples in the jungle.

Temple II is located in the main square of Tikal. It's one of the temples that you can still climb and the view from above won't disappoint you, for sure! From atop you can see all the buildings around that complex.

Temple II has a wooden staircase on the backside that makes it fairly easy to climb. Once on top you have great views of the Grand Plaza and across to Temple I.

One of my favourite things to do in Tikal was visit temple 2, not because it is in any way "better" than the other temple, rather it is because you can climb in on a wooden stairwell and the views you get of the Great...More

A climb to the top (on safe, wooden stairs) provides a panoramic view of the Grand Plaza, with Temple 1 at the centre and Acropolis North and Central on either side.
