I spent three weeks diving with Ecomarine Dive Shop on Utila. This turned out to be one of the hilights of my trip traveling through Central America by myself, and one of the places I mention to all my friends and family back home as the best place to relax and meet some new friends. While on the island, my... More

When walking down the Main Street on Utila, you'll pass one dive shop after another. They are all different; some more high-priced, and others seem like factories, but there is only one like EcoMarine. EcoMarine is at one end of Utila, towards the public beach, where there's a different atmosphere than the party-centric spots on the Main Street. If you... More

We did our Advanced open water course with Chaz and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The 2:1 student teacher ratio was ideal and Chaz was an excellent and fun instructor! The dive shop has a great, laid back vibe and although the accommodation is basic, overall it's a great deal. We highly recommend this place!

Look no further than Gunter's Ecomarine Dive Shop when diving on Utila. They offer more flexibility than other dive shops, have the best prices, and are extremely friendly on top of everything else. You aren't pressured into diving or courses, but they let you inquire about where YOU want to go. In fact, you are more likely to be approached... More

We passed our open water and open water advanced at Gunter's EcoMarine Dive Shop. We stayed almost 6 weeks on the island so we really got to know the people working there! The staff is very friendly, Tara the owner is really nice and helpful, and our instructor Ernesto was simply the best ! Learnig to dive with them was... More

I was planing on diving with them so I went to their hostel the first night. The room was extremely basic, but that's ok, it's a hostel. However, the (shared) bathrooms are in such a poor condition, that can barely be used. No toilet paper, not even talk about soap to wash your hands before eating. The dive shop has... More

Thank you for taking the time to review. Apart from our simple Backpackers Lodge we also work closely with a couple of other hotels in the neighbourhood in order to offer our divers low, mid and high end accommodation, depending on their preference. I felt bad that the hotel I showed you, that was in your desired range, was full.... More

Well it is a nice place to be there at Gunters! We have been there doing some divingcourses for two weeks. They do a good job but nevertheless there are also some weird to strange instructors! Try to get rid of them and ask for Ernesto or Aiden!! Both are amazing!!

A really nice service gesture we got from Gunters Ecomarine Dive Shop was that they were waiting for us at the ferry dock.  They had arranged this for us in advance so instead of walking or taking a cab to our hotel, they had their dive boat there to take us and our luggage back to their dive shop where...
