We did not plan anything beforehand, just went to Nueva Armenia spent the night in a cheap, very basic hospedaje at the entrance of town, close to the river, where the boats depart. Next morning we got a place on a lancha, called somebody to ask whether there was accomodation available at Laru Beya in East End of Isla Mayor and... More

Did and excursion here to see the sights and snorkel. Tour guide was informative and nice. Took a speed boat ride to multiple areas then snorkeling and lunch. Pack sunscreen, bug spray and a hat! I upgraded to a lobster lunch which was caught fresh. Otherwise fish was the lunch. The sights were amazing, the water was clear, the coral... More

The Marine Reserve is a stunningly beautiful area and well worth a visit. I hope to return and spend a few days. However be very, very cautious of the company you book a tour with. I used Tourist Options and it was a huge mistake. Despite operating since the early 1990's they are disinterested (at best) in safety and gave... More

the place is very good.. islands are great for snorkeling. But excursions are in rush, you can not just stay there and relax... everything is "go... go... go..." if you want to stay thee for a few days, you should make a reservations WAY before your travel, and when you're there, it's usually too late.

We paid for a private guide from the lodge. It included lunch (the typical fried whole little snapper) from the village people. The driver (1hr from lodge at least), 2 boatmen, snorkling equipment included for about $170 per person.

Took a day excursion to Cayos Cochinos from Sambo Creek. The guide and staff were great. Boat ride an adventure. First went to the island with new visitor center to use new bathroom and see a 7-8 minute video. Then got back on boat to go to next island where we went snorkeling for about 40 minutes. Not as pretty... More

this trip is billed as a cultural and snorkeling tour. We went along with eight others on a small boat from Roatan to Cayos Cochinos. The trip across was fine, although we heard it could get bumpy, it was not for us. Our first stop was to one of the islands where we had to watch a mandatory video. Then... More

We used Garifuna Tours to go the Cayos Cochinos. The boat we went on for this trip was not a luxury boat, but for the type of trip is perfect. The ride is smooth, and you can see and take pictures of everything. The staff was very cordial and helpful!! The place where you go snorkeling is not that comfortable... More

A day tour from The Lodge at Pico Bonito. Our guide Elmer was amazing. The drive to get on the boat was about an hour, and then another 30-40 minutes on a boat. Stopped at the Monumento natural marino to watch a short video and a quick look around. Then off to snorkel for over hour, in the second largest... More
