Most visitor centers are bland modern buildings. Athens put theirs in a relocated house from the 1820s. You can visit history while getting modern information from some very nice people. The gentleman that was there when we arrived was very genial and found us information...More

Nice visitors center with parking in the center of town. Added bonus is the Church-Waddel-Brumby House. Possibly the oldest house in Athens. Sparsely furnished in a Federal Style and well kept.

The Welcome Center is actually the Church-Waddel-Brumby house circa 1820. It is a beautiful little house that was moved from its original site, saved from demolition. The information I received was great.....it included a street with original cobblestones, very charming neighborhoods with wonderfully old Greek...More

We've stopped by a couple of times and we have now taken one of their Architecture in Athens Tours. Everyone is very helpful and provides knowledgeable commentary on Athens, it's history and what is available now.
