    Big Island Beauty
We were on a circle tour of the Big Island and stopped by the Waipi’o Valley lookout and it was so beautiful. We stopped around twilight and it wasn’t very crowded and it was very lovely. We also enjoyed the many feral cats that hung around! This is a great place to stop and photograph the beauty of the Big Island.

    Beautiful vista!
We drove out to this remote overlook even though we knew they would not let us descend into the valley. The views are great...absolutely stunning beauty. You could hear the waves too. There is plenty of parking. The walk down to the actual overlook is short and paved, but steep. There is also some very interesting signage here about King Kamehameha. Restrooms and picnic tables too. Definitely worth the drive out. Definitely recommend.

    Quick Stop, Beautiful View
The view from the lookout down to the valley was amazing. I was not expecting to see a waterfall at the far end, which was a pleasant surprise. The lookout is easily accessible, albeit a bit steep. My teen daughters loved it as well. It was one of our many stops along our 12-hour loop around the Big Island. Note: You are unable to access the valley as a tourist unless you book a specific tour. it is private land.

We drove from Kohala resort area they Waimea and to the valley lookout. The vegetation along the drive was so interesting. It was fun to see the little white birds hanging with the cattle. The view was really spectacular. We enjoyed a stop at the Waipio fruit shack on the way there.

Very BEAUTIFUL place. Loved the views!! Great place to stop and take pictures like we did. When I posted my pic on FB, my friend had sent me a pic of her son that she took several years ago.

The views are simply awe-inspiring. The sheer magnitude of the valley, the ocean, black sand beach and especially the water fall on the far side is simply a sight worth taking in and enjoying. Beyond the photo opportunity the opportunity to simply take in the sight and appreciate the view is incredible.

Second time on the Big Island and had a great stroke of luck as Kilauea started erupting on Thursday afternoon Jan 5. We went to Volcanoes National Park on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Back out on Friday evening late and the following Thursday after dark. Fantastic. Did other stuff like Akaka Falls, Waipio,Parker Ranch and lots more. Basically explored the whole island. Groceries have gotten extremely expensive as dining out also. Be prepared. This was our sixth time to Hawaii and we were shocked at the increase in prices over the past 13 months.

We flew over the Waipi'o Valley in a helicopter tour and it was lush and beautiful with a gorgeous coast. We also visited the lookout which provides absolutely gorgeous views.

The lookout and the journey to there is nice. The street and trail down the valley is closed for tourists and only accessable for local people.
