Just wish we could have went to the ocean. Such a beautiful place but no access to it. Not sure if it's private or not.

There are three ways to get to the Waipi'o Valley: you hike, you pay $$ for a commercial tour (you have one hour free time in the valley) or you rent a four wheel drive and do not tell the rental company you are going...More

We did walk down there which is extremely physically challenging. Down there you can get only to the beach, where is wild ocean. No possibility to swim in the ocean. The rest of the valley is private and there is no tresspassing allowed.

It was cloudy and rainy the entire time we were here, so we didn't really even see the whole valley. What we did see and do was Hi'ilawe Falls. Spectacular! We were a bit reluctant when we saw 2 "waterfall trail closed" signs with threats...More

What a beautiful spot, the valley, the river, the beach all in one place. The only issue is the hike down and back up. We rented a Jeep and I’m glad we did. Spend the better part of a day there, pack a lunch and...More

From the parking spot, you will need cca. 30 minutes to get downhill and to the beach. After the descent go right along the path and soon you will get to the most amazing black sand beach on the island. You can take a walk...More

Hopefully when you visit, it won't be raining but even then the view is spectacular. Parking lot is adjacent. A slightly steep walk down but short and not slippery. Very beautiful. Have seen it 10 times and still find it amazing.

What a hoot. Takes some effort and expense to take in the view of the valley. Yes, it’s gorgeous and green but the real attraction is the history of place so you know what you’re looking at. Finding a friendly local who’s willing to share...More

Even if you just stop at the scenic point this is one of those "aaaaHHHH" moments. If you don't have 4 wheel drive and would like to head down there are locals who will take you down.

Start before 9am ideally. Took us 2hr30mn round trip including a stop at the beach, seeing wild horses, and getting pictures of the waterfall. If you walk fast and do not stop for long, less than 2hrs is doable for sure. 4... More

The horseback tour we took used a shuttle van to drive down to the barn. We then did our horseback ride - you do not dismount during the ride, but I will say my husband was complaining before we went and almost didn't go... More

It depends on the group. When you book it, ask if there will be time to walk out to the black sand beach. If there is a majority in the van that wants to do it, then usually the driver may permit it. But keep in mind... More
