The McKenzie State Park has high cliffs with surf pounding on the rocks. Beautiful but one must be careful! Worth a stop for the gorgeous scenery.

First, don't take kids here, unless you have excellent control over them. There's no protection to prevent them from just falling over the edge into the roaring waves below. Aside from this, it was amazing. We watched from the edge as large swells crashed into...More

First off: don't try to use the restrooms here. They had graffiti all over the doors and my mom poked her head in and said both smelled horrific. That said, it's worth a stop here for the amazing views of the sea cliffs and the...More

This historic park is NOT for swimming. The high cliffs echo with breakers and the tall ironwood trees offer abundant shade for having a picnic and spending a lazy afternoon with family. There's plenty of walking about space and history to intrigue the visitor.

Mackenzie Park was just a few miles from the cottage I stayed for a few days in Pahoa. What a beautiful drive of palms and coconuts lining the roads with arched trees almost beckoning your name to drive through their architecture. It seems to be...More

This is a nice place to go for a seaside walk and to watch the waves break. No beach here but a pull off for the breaker. Pavilions are available.
