Love the drive thru lava fields and when you arrive its mixed sand, rocks, lava, etc. Great place to hang out. Did not try snorkeling here,

We read the reviews and thought our non 4 wheel drive car could make it if we went slow but it was much farther than expected so we turned around and left. Very bumpy "road" if you can call it that.

Long bumpy lava road to a group of beaches. Good surf for beginner's on northwest swells. Great views of Hualalai, Kohala,Haleakala and Mauna Kea. Walking path to Sandy beach or drive right to picnic and rocky shoreline.
