Glad another review mentioned how difficult it was to find this home! We asked many locals around Hanalei and no one knew of it. It's a hidden place but worth the effort to locate it and take the guided tour. There was a sign pointing down a path that seemed to be a parking lot but it was very dense... More

It took us a half an hour to find the tour guide (or for him to find us), as the markings for this building are misleading. We parked in a lot near the white building closest to the street, but it turned out that the mission house was further down the driveway. It is not visible from the street, as... More

Informative docent who shared intriguing history of the mission house and the families that inhabited it- many old books from the 1800 and 1900 hundreds throughout the house- amazing story of a family's foresight and community-minded generosity-

Our tour guide at Grove Farm told us about the opportunity to visit the Waioli Mission House in Hanalei. They give tours 3 days a week, from 9:00 to 3:00, Thursday being one of them. Take the dirt track just past the old green church. There's a small sign that says Mission House. You park in a green glade and... More

Tucked away, a bit hard to find, is a beautiful treasure of Hawaiian Mission history. Well worth the small donation for a private guided tour of this well preserved home. Set aside some time from your day to step back in time.

Roger was our guide. You ring a large, loud bell to let him know there's someone waiting for a tour. The house gives you a look at what it was like to live there in the 1800's, with candle molds, spinning wheels, etc on display. The guide helped with our comprehension of what living there was like and knew every... More

This is a very interesting location. Our guide offered lots of history of the area. It is a good idea to Google map the site to help you find the parking lot and walking path. We found the "school-style" bell that you ring to let the fellow know you are there. We loved his stories and the many original books... More

This mission house on Kauai, parts of which date to the 1830s, seemed fascinating from the outside and has an idyllic setting. Tours of the interior are given by a couple who are guides/care-takers on only a few days a week. Seems when they have an emergency, scheduled tours have to be skipped. You might try calling the Waioli Corporation... More

This tour of the home of an old missionary family is very interesting and educational. The property itself (the land) is beautiful with mature trees and a backyard of mountains with waterfalls coursing down their slopes. The house looks like it was dropped out of New England (which it sort of was) and is surrounded by a white picket fence.... More
