Relaxing, informative, beautiful and very friendly staff. The staff played music, danced and told stories, both personal and historical. Thanks again.

We recently took the Smith boat tour along the river and up to the grotto. Boat ride was nice along the quiet river and the hula lessons on the boat ride back made for some interesting pictures. The grotto area was beautiful, but you could not get close to it and had to view from a viewing stand a short... More

You can kayak or take a small boat down river to the fern grotto. It is beautiful and well worth your time to visit one of the many areas in Hawaii that Elvis helped make famous

We almost skipped the Wailua river boat trip and Fern Grotto visit because we read that it was not wheelchair accessible. Fortunately my husband did a little more research and discovered that the lack of accessibility was only the five or so steps down into the boat and then back up to leave the boat. Though I use a lightweight... More

For years, we've been taking the Smith's boat trip to the Fern Grotto. The whole thing takes an hour and a half. You get on the specially designed flat bottom boat, hear traditional Hawaiian songs performed by real Hawaiians, and learn some basic hula dancing. The trip up the river is calm and picturesque. You'll see folks on kayaks, canoes,... More

We did the Smith's Wailua River cruise to the Fern Grotto. The fern grotto was beautiful! However, the boat we took to the grotto was full and we all had to queue up to walk to a deck to view the ferns and then follow each other back to the dock. We sat at the back of the boat and... More

The boat ride here is relaxing and the walk to the grotto is very gentle. The walk is quite pretty as the path is surrounded by lots of trees and plants. The grotto itself is smaller than I expected, but the surrounding rock face is huge! The whole area is covered in ferns giving it an almost magical feel. You... More

I should have read a few of the reviews before...I ALWAYS read reviews though I trusted my parents (as they went there many years ago when you could go to the grotto). Live and learn... :-( Here is the short of it: 1) You can't access the grotto (you can only view it from afar). 2) You can't access the... More

as part of the Roberts Kauai tour. Again very lush, green, and beautiful. These are the sights one thinks of when one thinks of Hawaii. The waterfall in the canyon is quite nice. The music show put on by the locals was pretty good as well.

At $50 a couple... waste of time and money. They shouldn't charge more than $10 a couple. Huge ripoff!! Save your money.... Ill send you a picture of the grotto !!
