OK, so let me start off by saying that this is not for anyone but good to excellent swimmers who are experienced. Entered on the middle of the beach, a nice sandy area, and headed to the left along the coast. Very nice fingers going out into the water to peruse, excellent sea life. Ran across a couple of turtles,... More

Moderate level of medium to large fish close to shore. Very few small fish. Some coral but lacks color. Very well protected from waves but there is still a swell. Very difficult to get into the water due to rough volcanic rocks at shoreline

And your water socks. Once you get out from the beach, Hawaii's volcanic shore makes walking a bit rocky for tenderfeet. But there is a protected area for the children as well as a slightly less protected area for snorkeling. The large park and nearby parking were overloaded on weekends, but lightly used during the week. Shelters and restrooms nearby,... More

This beach is perfect for boogie boarding (not for anything else though). My teenager, who boogie boards off San Diego all the time, was thoroughly impressed. He spent hours! And also got to ride the waves next to sea turtles. Awesome day.

Brilliant location across from the Beach Park, visited just outside of happy hour , after a short wait we were seated as the restaurant was very busy with happy hour customers finishing up. Food average and slightly overpriced, possibly due to it's location and no immediate competition, Staff very friendly and attentive , decent selection of beer and wine. You... More

We are currently staying in Poipu and I was extremely disappointed to find that one of my favourite beaches on the island has lost 80% of its sand. Apparently huge swells last year removed several tons of sand leaving a lot of rocks. Be aware that the beach has changed dramatically!

Decent swimmers can boogie board here but if you want to swim, take your family to Poipu Beach ( just to West) where there is a life guard and better (more) sand. You can check out the endangered Green Sea Turtles here or at Poipu Beach.

Brennecke's Beach is a very nice little beach the borders the east east of Poipu Beach Park. It's a really rocky on the beach ends, but still lots of soft sand for relaxing in the sun. At times there is some serious shore break, but this is a good spot for boogie boarding and body surfing. Be sure to keep... More
