Black Rock is a great place to snorkel or to spend the day on the beach. I recommend you get there early because it does get crowded and the water is often calmer in the morning for snorkelling. There are a handful of free parking...More

Only a handful of people I pointed this out to thought it was interesting (many just said "I don't see it" and kept on swimming even though I literally freedove all the way down and pointed right at it) , so I'll post it here....More

There were turtles here. Lots of turtles. There were small turtles, medium-sized turtles, and at least one very, VERY large turtle. The turtles were all right along the rocks, between about 30 and 50 yards from the shore. There was swirling current near the rocks,...More

Black Rock is a great place for a half day of snorkeling and swimming. Many people warn of strong currents and dangers around this area, and I can only speak of my experience, which was wonderful and I never felt unsafe. This being said I...More

We heard the best place for snorkling was Black Rock and was just a short walk down the beach. We headed here in search of sea turtles. There is not a lot of beach to stake your claim but we were able to find a...More

I saw another review claiming this same thing and thought it was worth sharing. If you are on the north side of black rock there is some decent snorkling along the rock facing the beach. It's highly recommended to avoid going around the corner. It...More

We were staying at the Westin, so it was a short walk from our hotel to Black Rock. I had wanted to go snorkeling during our visit. Unfortunately (or fortunately, since I sunburn easily), we ended up going on a cloudy day. That said, I...More

I am at Kaanapali Beach to the right of Black Rock right now. It’s 9:30 am and I’ve been here since before 8. Very beautiful and quiet. For sunny and spreading out, this has been my favorite. Because a golf course is directly behind the...More

There is a bar (Cliff Dive bar) at the Sheraton Maui and you can have a drink and watch the dive. Everyone should see it once.

The snorkeling around Black Rock is basic. You do have to swim pretty far out to really see stuff. At the end of the rock is where the best snorkeling is. Since this spot is well-known, it gets very crowded with snorkelers and cliff-jumpers. You...More

Hi - I'm guessing the Snorkel Store has life vests, noodles, etc They'd probably throw those in free of charge with a snorkel gear rental. Worth asking
