I expected something more exciting knowing that Meknes was once the capital of Morroco. It is small and nothing to see. One - two hours should be enough for visiting the city. Do not spend a night in Meknes, it does not worth it.

there are hardly good and busy lanes compared to fez medina. we did not find any worthy shopping opportunities except traditional clothes.

Personally i found this medina not interesting. The local market was very boring and the shops in the plazza very average and touristic.

The old city, Medina in Meknes was something else. Truly an inspiring and great place to spend hours looking, shopping, eating etc. The Moroccan food scene is another world and its pricing is un matched. Tajines galore.

Nice contrast to Fes. Their main square has the same snake and monkey performers that Marrakech has unfortunately. Nice to walk around the souks as their is less touristy stuff there. The silver workers area is interesting.

Lots of people drinking tea and just hanging around. Narrow streets under the rooftops, a lot of small shops and food stops. Typical African environment. Buy whatsoever and bargain before you pay! And yes they have a small shop there sell the camel meat!

Well both. Provincial backwaters have their own charm, including less hassle. The two granaries / stables (one of which is popularly labeled a prison because it's underground) are the most interesting and impressive local sites. The mausoleum in town is being renovated, but I hope that it's for the sake of the architecture because the honoree was a bloodthirsty brute... More

We went there from Fes by train. Dar Jamai Museum, Bab el-Mansour and Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail are our interest. However, Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail is now under renovation (2017, February) and is not open to public. We thus just walked around and don't think Meknes is a must-visit. 如果在Fes停留很多天的話來這邊是可以的,而且搭火車來也很方便,只是很可惜Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail目前整修中沒有開放,如此一來就不太需要來了...

After Fes and Marrakech I honestly don't see a reason to take the time. We were there on a Friday when everything was closed so that may have been a factor. But even taking that into consideration, there weren't the architectural elements of Fes to make it exotic or picturesque. The main square didn't have the character of any in... More
