Visiting the American Legation Museum was high on my list of things to do when visiting Tangier. And, I'm so happy I did. It was really amazing seeing a little piece of home in the middle of Moroccan culture. Walking inside the museum looks like you walking into a different decade. We were there for probably 30-60 minutes, so it... More

This place is well worth a visit. The historical significance of the American Legation can't be overemphasised. Some of the artefacts on display include handwritten letters from George Washington and other towering figures from US history which is the type of thing a closet history geek like me will be wowed by. It was a little tricky to find as... More

We were not aware of the American Legation but were taken there by our private guide and really enjoyed the experience. Located in the Medina, this historical building with its lovely gardens was a nice change of pace and the exhibits were very informative about the long relationship between the US and Morocco. A nice way to spend maybe one... More

We decided to take a respite from the Casbah and enjoyed the visit to learn about the strong and long Moroccan relationship with the States. Very pleasant ambience and worthwhile original historical exhibits with plenty of Moroccan art as this location served as the US Embassy for over 100 years. Worth the 20 dirham admission and less than an hour... More

The old legation building is well maintained and has a lot of character. The displays are very informative and give a new perspective to ideas about Morocco and the outside world.

Knowing nothing in advance, we were recommended to go. It's a beautiful oasis in the old town, well preserved and free entry. Lots of stuff about Moroccan-american connections all the way back to 1777. Well worth the hour we spent there. A must if you're from US.

Deep in the medina is where this treasure is waiting. The staff are so helpful. It is such a contrast from the drear streets to find colour, information and artifacts

This is a rather specific topic museum, so if you like Paul Bowles, this is for you. Nice typical home, and a somewhat interesting history to the building.

Worthwhile for the Paul Bowles memorabilia if you're a fan. Would love to have heard some of the music he collected from all over Morocco which was sold at the small gift shop for 60 euros!
