We were on our way to Ngorongoro crater but the river was flowing OVER the bridge instead of under it. Half an hour later all was back to normal and we were on our way.

Driving close to the river provided an opportunity to see the changes in vegetation that are the result of the river. Very interesting.

A beautiful river full of wildlife, in it and all around . Hippos everywhere, but also elephants, wildebeests , zebras etc. A very important part of Serengeti life and one of the reasons the animals are so plentiful.

The day we were there the wildlife was quite active. We saw several feedings ongoing, crocs fighting, many hippos. We had a great outing that day

In the distance you can see a couple of hippos and maybe an alligator, perhaps some African buffalo getting a drink. There's a rustic potty here and a walkway to see the hippo pool. Be careful, our guide came running when he realized there was...More

You will find plenty of them here.. Also good to see the crossing if you are in the right season. Best time to be here is in the wet season..

You can't see the river without visiting the park. As I went during dry season, there was not much to see. I'm planning to return just after the rainy season so I can take full advantage of the wildlife viewing at that time.

Great to stop and view the hippos or maybe even a croc! The river was a bit low when we were there but quite an experience.

Our guide drove several places along the Grumeti River and we were able to see Hippo pools and Crocs. The interesting thing about the Hippos in the Grumeti, from my perspective, is that the Hippos seem to live in the mud and the water. I...More

The Grumeti River is used on the annual migration but can be drier as it was when we were there. Lions will use its brush for shade. Smaller pools will be used by hippos, and other animals will use the brush for hiding and food....More

This doesn't look like a real question. It's an excuse for Kibo Trekking to put an advertisement up. When my family went on Safari in Tanzania, we went with Africa Dream Safari. They were fantastic and didn't have to resort... More
