I visited twice in 2015. El Jem is a good 3 hours or so drive from Tunis, but the roads are good and once you get to El Jem the town it's easy to find your way to the Colosseum. It's very impressive and immediately...More

I stopped by the museum before heading for the amphitheatre. the museum is worth a stop. It had enough excellent mosaics without being overwhelming and there was a nice variety of topics. Villa remains with intact but well-weathered mosaics were out back, and were worth...More

After quite a long journey we arrived here at El Djem. It was July 2013 and a scorcher of a day ( drink lots of water ). Our rep lead us inside the amphitheatre and more or less told us to wander round freely. I...More

Although the facade that faces the street/entrance is much more complete than the rest of the colosseum, this ancient monument is still a great place to visit. As other reviewers have pointed out, one is free to wander and explore the arches, stairways and tunnels....More

If you have the time, this is a great day trip from Tunis. We took the train from Tunis early in the morning, and it took about 2h30 or something like that. The amphitheatre was wonderful. There were maybe a few people there all morning,...More

Awesome place which you have free reign to explore. Having been around Romes colosseum this was liberating and I would say almost as good.

If going to Tunisia, a trip to the El Jen amphitheater should be a priority. A great opportunity to see one of the most beautiful and better preserved Roman amphitheaters of the empire
