I visited Mefou five or six times over two years. I was always impressed by the staff. Knowledgeable (in varying degrees) but always willing to give additional explanations and they take their job of educating the visitors very seriously and showing the link between the habitat and the animals. It is also impressive the way they actually care for their... More

This is a sanctuary for the endagered primates, however there are other mankeys (mandrill, cercopitecus, etc). I particulary liked the gorillas. The volunteers working there offer a lot of information, explain the behavior of the apes. Tgey do a nice job and make this tour a pleasant experience, especially, but not only, for children.

I spent about 3 weeks in the primate sanctuary with a group of 4. Our tour guide spoke enough English to answer our questions and it was a great experience. We purchased some souvenirs on the way out. It was worth the long drive (almost 2 hours) from Yaounde.

I am writing this review as a cautionary advice piece. It stormed here last night in Yaounde, and I got up very early this morning to go to Mefou Primate Sanctuary. I arrange a taxi to pick me up for the sum of $50,000 CFA OR $85.00 US Dollars (to take me and wait while I walk around and bring... More

Situated in Mafou National park is this amazing Wildlife rescue centre about 1 hour from Yaounde in Cameroon. The team there cares and nurtures a wide variety of Primates that are simply wonderful. Gorillas, Chimps, Mandrills and Drills all benefit from great organization and wonderful knowledge that the team there have. Suitable for all, the walks along jungle paths are... More

Remarkable rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary for a variety of primates. Visitors are treated to a very interesting guided tour with knowledgable staff (Terence is delightful). The animals are cared for by a team of full timers, volunteers and qualified vets. The tour take sin natural habitats for the animals as well as a bush trail with impressive flora - giant... More

The National Park of Mefou is made up of Chimpanzee and gorilla that were got back during the seizures of customs or found mutilated at the edge of roads. The park is constituted by a zone life where we are welcomed by guides which will accompany you during all the visit. There are then several enclosures of which one for gorillas off-centered... I recently went to visit Mefou Primate Sanctuary. I didn't know what to expect after the delusion and disapproval of Yaounde Zoo. But Mefou Sanctuary definitively deserve a stop-by. It's a piece of forest managed as to offer recover to wounded apesa and offer a conservation perspective, rather than a mere show-off of poor animals. Nice and well-trained guides plus... More

We went to Mefou National Park by Taxi. The drive from Yaoundé takes round about 45 MInutes. When we arrived all people where very friendly and most of them are talking english. The Primates are living in nice areas. Walking through the park takes round about 2 hours and is definitly worth a trip. You can also buy some drinks... More
