Don´t walk around this market

worth while to drive through, but not recommended to stroll around, as there are active separatist groups operating here.

While this place might seem attractive and authentic for a backpacker, it is actually a place of conflict reflecting the local tensions in the country, with weekly incidents. You will need to pass the main road to go to the Airport, but UN peacekeepers are patrolling and base there.

This was an interesting place. When we went to Bangui the civil war was ended. And this place had been rebuilt. Of course shops are patchy. Made from wood. In these shops most of the things were sold second hand. But it was the most enjoyable place in Bangui.

This whole area has been destroyed and now is considered a very dangerous area. Very recently a UN peace keeper was killed there. Definitely do not visit! We can hope and pray that one day it will become a vibrant market again.

Now you find only destroyed houses and empty places, most of the commerce is gone. It is sad to see all what destruction can bring to a once very busy market street.
