It is very interesting to see that the old emperor did not live in extreme luxury. The palace was very simple. Unfortunately the church was closed so I could not look in. 100 birr to enter the museum is too much, compared to the 10 birr for the National Museum, for a single room with dusty artifacts. It is better... More

A bit of both history and culture in one visit. Well worth a trip up the mountain to view this church, and also check out the small museum, and the old palace nearby

On my trip to Addis, I had the benefit of a local friend to guide us, and Entoto was our first stop. The trip of the hill is impressive, with immersion into the local scene....the lower part of the road is lined with local-type shops (i.e. might look ramshackle to American or European eyes) and different types of housing (from... I visited this place because it is one of the 10 best attraction in the city. Driving up with private taxi and we reached Entoto Hill in about 20 minutes from Addis. At the place we have full view of the city. It is beatiful with mountain on the background.

Gives a broader perspective of Addis Ababa, its city proper, surrounding forests and mountains. Also, seems to be a primary source of firewood for local women carrying large loads of firewood in bundles back to the city. A place to escape Addis' smog and chaos.

The view from Mt. Entoto is the real draw here (in addition to the church and museum). The people are so proud that it is humbling. You'll see real life here too...so go!

If you're visiting Addis Ababa, it's definitely worth a quick trip to Entoto Hill. The church and castle up there are not special (on the contrary), but the views as you ride up the hill are truly beautiful.

To reach Entoto Hill , take the Matatus from 6 Kilo, they are cheaper than hiring a complete car.Even one can plan a day's trek to Entoto Hill, but it is advisable if you are traveling in a group.

This was an awesome 10k worth visit. My colleague and I enjoyed the history and the hike!! It is also very cheap for what you get out of it.
