Chamarel is a village located in the western hills on the west coast of Mauritus at an elevation of about 850 feet .It is primarily known for its scenic location. Nothing much to do here other than taking photographs with the waterfall in the background.

Stopped here to view the quaint market and the incredible views that were in constant view as we sat for delicious food. Plenty of wildlife came to visit the area including the resident macack monkeys. All used to the frequent tourists but be aware, the mother monkeys are extremely protective of their little ones. It's easy for a perfect day to... More

I had the best meal I ate in Mauritius here..heart of palm with cheese, fabulous. The ambience is very European, the place is clean and the service was very good. Frankly I found the other restaurants in this area of Mauritius to be dirty clip joints with mediocre food and scams aplenty, (ie. you couldn't order a glass of wine,... More

You can only view the fall from a distance and there are two points from where u can view at chamarel. There is a entrance fee and i felt not worth paying to see it. The day we went it was raining...with no rain i dont think it will look like a fall. But i appreciate mauritius tourism for the... More

Beautiful waterfall & it was worth the stop. Nice to take photo's. We spent about 15minutes here. This has to be done together with other activities (Eg. Seven coloured Earths & Curious corner of Chamarel or the Rhumerie)

Visited here as part of a day trip to the south of the island. It was certainly interesting and a good photo opportunity, but probably not very good as an isolated visit.
