Our visit to Katatura was included in a city tour and limited to being driven slowly through the township. It covers a wide area with a large population. The accommodation consists mainly of very basic metal shacks. A broad diversity of activities can be seen...More

I absolutely love the vibe. Their cappana(braai) not sure if I spelt it correct is amazing. It's served with fresh made salsa.it's amazing to watch.I loved the mood and feel of the place. Totally different from the suburbs and the town area. You should check it out!

We suggest you to reach Katutura with a guide and walk in the market. Taste the good beef meat cooked on the grill. It's fantastic

I was lucky to be shown around by a local who also happened to be a friend, so I felt very comfortable and free to roam and do whatever I wanted. The market where you buy Kapana is awesome, go buy a salad (N$10) which...More

My friends and I ended up there around noon, when the market was forming and lot of people where coming from the areas; expensive cars were parked outside as if it was not just a street-type of market. We looked around and shortly our hands...More

My travel group has visited Katutura for the past six years. It doesn't change. It's a sad place where alcoholism and drug use have ravaged families. Although the city has improved conditions recently (installed a new clean water system), the cycle of poverty continues in...More

If you love meat and i mean MEAT, you should visit the "single quarters" in Katutura, almost everyone in Windhoek knows where it is! Chopped up steaks like never before (kapana). Do note that it isn't that safe to go there alone if you're a...More

This is the real African Windhoek. Klein Windhoek, Olympia, or Eros are the districts where the Europeans live. Not a question of apartheid anymore, just a question of tribal union and Financial capability. If you wish to see Africa living in a safe place, this...More

I live in the area. Even if you are driving your own car it is ok, as long as you don't have any valuables in sight.
