Top of 52 meters (higher than the Statue of Liberty), the Renaissance monument is located on one of the hills of Mamelles. It offers a breathtaking view of the bay of the peninsula of Dakar.

Definitely recommend stopping by! It’s a huge statue, one of the tallest in Africa maybe? Once you climb the stairs, the view is priceless of the surrounding city of Dakar!

Great view of the city and inspiring monument - which I was told is controversial. A nice walk from the Mammalles area where we were staying. Worth a visit.

There's not much to do in Dakar for tourists: not many monuments, nice buildings, historical sites. So you visit that one big ugly statue on that hilltop. Not much to see there, but go ahead if you're bored.

There is no entrance fee just to walk up and go around the base of the statue. However to go up inside the statue there is a fee of about $15 us dollars. Parking is also free at the statue.
