I visited Masubi Tombs, the Buganda Parliament and the Lubiri Palace in one long, interesting morning. The tombs are not yet accessible to tourists, the Parliament and Royal Palace (the latter only to be visited from the outside) offered food for thought for a long time. Like most of Africa Uganda's civilisation was spoilt by the arrival of the missionaries and colonisers. One only has tolisten to the enthusiastic well-prepared guides to understand how refined the Bugandan system was and is.

This is the palace of Buganda King. You cannot go inside the tour guide said it's under renovation. Sometime the king go here for some party or meeting.
The suppose to me armory was become the torture chamber. thousand of people kill there. Good thing no bad spirit or ghost appear.

This is the residence of the local king.It is on the main avenue in the centre of the city. From the palace looking down you can see the administrative building in the distance where the king can Go to work if he feels like. The lawns are busy with wedding party shoots.the 10 USD entry fee is not worth it as you can't really enter the palace as the king lives there. A couple of youngish officials are present to the right of the entrance..you are not even allowed to take photos of the palace if you don't pay..we felt it was not worth it just to see idi Amin's torture rooms. We were 5 people an that was 50usd so we passed..seeing from the other reviews I am glad we did that.however you can easily shoot photos outside from the lawns and grounds..area is safe as its an official area.just don't argue with the guards and be careful whik3 shooting photos

Even though you don't get to go inside, there is a display room of the royal family with pictures and clothes. The landscape is also nice and you get to see the torture chambers which is a very chilling experience but very insightful. Would recommend to rest for a while in the garden area for a breather.

Interesting to learn more about the royal family and its interaction with more modern day politics. This was interesting but not a must see.

Ok, so this place is near to the central part of Kampala, but even if you miss to see this place that is totally ok, don't worry.
This palace still being occupied by king occasionally visitors are allowed to see it from inside. So what left is it's outside view and Idi Amin's torture chamber. First the palace is not big (ok let it be) and Idi Amin's torture chamber is just a empty, dark room. Guides do tell you the way how captured people were tortured but even emotional person like me couldn't being able to go in flashback. Our guide told us that writing on the wall was not actually written by captured people but by the locals later on. So they appeared to be plain dark rooms. Those rooms may have seen the worst but you couldn't reconstruct it in your brain. I was disappointed.
Bottom line is, avoid it coz it's not worth the $10 (That's the entry fees for foreigners)

Definitely recommend visiting the Palace for an hour in the afternoon! The tour takes around 30 minutes and you learn all about the history of Buganda, the awful crimes committed by the different dictators and the politics of Uganda today. The guide answered all my questions and there were many! He was super friendly and allowed me to take pictures of everything. It was so interesting seeing the grounds of the palace and harrowing visiting Idi Amin's torture chamber. You cannot go into the palace but there is no need to as you learn everything you want to know from outside. I recommend getting a boda from the city centre to the Palace as you go up the mile long road linking the Palace to the Parliment as well as seeing Old Kampala!

We had an interesting hour at the Palace. The guide were well educated on the history of Uganda. Its a bit boring that you cant enter the Palace because its not much to look at outside. Great view though of the hills in Kampala. The torture Chambers were interesting and so sad to ser some of the writings on the wall. I do hope that the writing " never again" is right but considering attrocities around the world i guess such things sadly still happends in many countrys.

The Palace of the King is at one end of a mile long road linking it to the Parliment.
The real story is the torture chamber in the grounds, where idi amin killed thousands. It is stark, bare bones stuff and if as I was, born in Uganda, you will shed a tear to all the lost souls who died on the whim of a mass murderer
