I would think that since it a countries monument to commemorate its independence, I expected a very artistic piece of Art. But if you have time, you can take a visit.

An astonishing piece of art work. Simple but reflecting the depth of the independence movements. May be it can still be made to look good by some lighting

Nice monument - free to walk up to and around. Easily accessible in the city centre - enjoyed the explanation of the statue as it is a child rising up from a mother representing the new youth rising up from the old Africa.

This monument is located in the city center of Kampala which symbolism a new child that has been born in Africa who is Uganda. It brings independence memories to Ugandans of today and generations to come. A better place to visit.

A beautiful statue, Big up to the designer. A piece of history in the heart of Kampala. Situated next to a busy road though but if in Kampala see this piece for sure.

When looking on the map, the independence monument seems set in a big park. Well, guess again. It's tucked away in a corner of the park, next to a busy roundabout and surrounded by large buildings and hotels. It looks quite forlorn and just seems...More

It can be easily missed as it stands in centre of busy down town, surrounded by passing traffic and other buildings around it, are much taller so its not easily noticed

Interesting monument: the bandages and the child signifying the birth of a new nation. Not much else to do here. Have a look at the statue and move on.
