Great market. Lots of diverse items from jewelry to house decor in a very accessible location. Take a hat as the blistering sun can become unmanageable. Definitely worth browsing to appreciate the Zambian creativity!

This is a fantastic stop to meet artists from all over the country and some from outside of the country. Each time I go there is a new trendy item. This time it was chitenge dresses and kids clothes. But there is a variety of items including wooden carvings and bowls, salad tongs and Zambian spoons/cooking items, paintings, jewelry, malachite... More

I found great souvenirs here, and was able to find a few unique items (which doesn't happen often, as most markets I've been to in eastern and southern Africa sell nearly identical items). I was able to get good deals and all the vendors were friendly. It's right next to a shopping mall, so you can get lunch before browsing.... More

This market is a must visit and is popular with both locals and tourist alike. The variety of items for sale is huge. Always make sure you bargain. If you are short of time in lusaka and you happen to be in on a Sunday I would encourage you to visit pakati market.

If you're in Zambia even for just a weekend, this place is a must. It's become integrated in to the culture of Lusaka. All items including clothing, handmade jewellery, wooden/metal souvenirs etc can be found here at a great bargain. & what you cannot find, tot can order the very talented craftsmen to make! If you want something to remember... More

So much to look for and even more to bargain. It's quite common to see locals, not just foreigners. Start off 1/3rd of the price quoted, chances are you might get it for 1/3rd. So go around the market, will take a hour or so, do the homework and start the bargaining. Never get stuck with one shop. PS: Now... More

There is everything for everyone here. The perfect market for not only foreigners but also locals. You have to bargain, very hard. Once you are tired of all the bargaining and shopping you can sit down and enjoy some beverages at the numerous cafes and eating places around the area.

I go here regularly for things to fill up my house and little present to send back to my native land :) The market workers are friendly and are not as pushy as other markets throughout Zambia. It's open every Sunday 9:00-17:00 and also open on public holidays. You can barter, usually you can pay only 75% of the original... More
