A small part of Nepal has had a big earthquake in April 2015. We participated in relief and are now working in recovery. socialtours is open for business, and we are even more determined to be professional, and build back better. You can help us in the process. Tourism is more important than ever.

A free day in Kathmandu or Pokhara can still be a day of discovery. Discovery of Local Food and Cuisine, of local handicrafts producers, or organic food, or a discovery of livelihoods, or the insides of Buddhism. At socialtours, we believe that these unplanned days will be the moments you will remember the most in Nepal, whether you learn how to cook, go to a coffee farm, or just cycle around the small picturesque communities around these cities, or hike on our 8000'ers of Kathmandu (yeah, 8000 ft. not meters). Yes, we also conduct off beat treks and adventure activities around these magnificent day inspirations. Talk to us, we will HIGHLIGHT your trip to Nepal.

Mỹ wife and I went to the morning cooking class to learn how to make 3 types of momos. They were delicious! The chef was so much fun and really seemed to enjoy teaching us! We will definitely be making these when we get back to Canada!! Just make sure you finalize the meeting place in the morning as it... More

I did a cooking class with socialtours over a week ago right after I came back from Everest Base Camp trek. I ate momos very often on the mountain, so I really wanted to know how to make it. There were four of us in the class, which was a perfect size. We made chicken, and Spinach and cheese momos,... More

My partner and I did the 'cook like a local' tour which lasted a couple of hours. It was enjoyable, especially if you like the local Nepali food. The staff are very friendly. There were 4 of us on the tour and you make a dish together and share out tasks. I wouldn't recommend more than 4 people in a... More

Thank you for the feedback. We really appreciate your time and effort to review your experience with fellow travelers who wants to join the activity. Yes, it is true that accommodating more people in the class would leave not enough space to participate equally, therefore we in any circumstances, never take more than six in a group. Thank you. After being in Nepal for a month, it was so nice to finally get to learn how to make momo's. I think it was a great experience and it was delicious even when we didn't master the skills within a morning. With the recipes I will keep on practicing in the Netherlands!

I liked dal bhat before we took the class, but wasn't that excited to make it ( because I knew the next 4 weeks of trekking would bring a plethora of dal bhat.) Wow, did this class change my mind! It was so flavorful and complex, but not unattainable to make. It gave me true insight into the creative license... More

A two and a half hour course on how to make momos. First, we went shopping to get all the ingredients, then worked in a well equipped kitchen with two very friendly and very patient women who explained the process of making mo mos (chicken ones and spinach and cheese ones as well as a few chocolate ones for dessert!).... A treat in Kathmandu! Sakun and Asmita were the friendliest teachers and the kitchen was a great place to be. So nice in fact, that we went a second time. Now I can cook momos and dal bhat at home! The best souvenir I could imagine. Recommended!

Myself and a friend took part in the Cook Like A Local activity and both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our teacher was both knowledgeable and extremely friendly, and with a small group of 3 people, it was very enjoyable and lots of hands-on work. Would recommend.

Mo:Mo cooking class were the one of the best highlights during our stay in Nepal.Class started with attending the local shops to buy all necessary ingredients for preparing Mo:Mo and the rest of the time we spent in kitchen where we took part in all cooking processes and finished with delicious mo:mo lunch.
