Good short visit

This was so near to our ECFA hotel, 5 minutes walk. After a long day sightseeing, we decided to check it out. Not a lots to see but it's worth a visit.

This is a beautiful stop with lots to see. The gift shop has great gifts at reasonable prices. Be sure to visit the upstairs rooms as well.

Not a very big place to visit. There are two towers built over the original fort. Do climb to the 2nd floor to see the view and also see the ship models in one and a shrine to Lord Kuixng (can ask for good academic results) in the other. Look out for the stone horse and the 9 big turtle... More

Might have been the "city counsel" area back in the day. Quite dedicated to praising the importance of knowledge. There are some English tours on certain days but signs are usually in Chinese only. Check out the surrounding downtown area.

This historical site is located in the heart area of Tainan, however, there is little English info provided to foreign tourists. Get prepared, you may need a translator with you if you don't read Chinese

Besides temples, this is one of the highlights in Tainan. Tainan is a very old city with lots of history and cultures. Lots of good food too. This tower is super old... I think they have restored some parts of it but you can still see the age in it. Very small though, one hour is more than plenty.

One of the must-seen historical 'attraction' in Tainan, located in the city center, not too far from the central railway station. There are lots of English information all over the places on site. The quality of the translation had also got improved, though you might still be able to find the mistakes. But overall, definitely a very interesting place and... More

Visiting the tower like stepping back to a proud history of Tainan. The entire fort was comprised by both traditional Chinese and Western architectures. Try to walk slowly to feel the breeze of history in every corner and every brick of the site. I walked from Tainan Station but recommend those who are not familiar with walking in a quite... More

Chihkan Tower was originally a Dutch fort based in what is now Tainan. Afterwards, the Koxinga regime changed it and later so did the Manchus. Nevertheless, there are still some old brick foundations still to be seen. Also interesting is the statue showing the Dutch surrender to Koxinga. In the past this showed Dutch subordination, but the statue has been... More
