In the 5 days that my sister and I were in Taipei, we went to Shilin twice. One night it was a weekday night and that was busy enough, but we went on a Saturday night and it was so crowded we were totally packed in and moving at a crawl pace! So weekday night would probably be better to... More

The night market is full of street stores and food. However it is extremely busy and this almost makes it un enjoyable! - no clothes shops let you try on the clothes first either. Other, quieter, night markets with similar stalls are more appealing to me.

Located between Shilin and Jiantan subway station (not sure why Jiantan station is closer than Shilin, yet they call this Shilin Market), separated into eateries, shopping sessions. No matter which day of the week you come visit it will always be packed with people, both locals and tourists.

Excellent inexpensive food. Best place to eat was underground. Fresh excellent choices. Crowded and vendors actively trying to get customers in to their booth. This was a bit uncomfortable for me but just a cultural difference. Flea market type goods on ground level. Many food vendors lined up on street as well.

This night market is definitely a must visit for food lover, all kind of local food will satisfy your taste buds, don't forget to try the stinky beancurd, it smelled like a poo, but taste like heaven..ha ha.

It is big night market with many fashion stalls, food stalls and other merchandise stalls. The concept is same regardless you go to fengjia night market in Taichung, or shida night market in Taipei.

Heard Shilin is the most famous night market in Taipei so we deiced to go there. It is huge, but it's also super packed! Tons of little shops for shopping and tons of food carts for eating. There are also games to play like at a carnival! We got some boba tea and loved it! We also tried the fried... More

Our trip to Shilin Night Market was unplanned. We went there at around 5pm and I realized that it was the best time of the day to explore the area. There are lots of food to buy but find the basement where there are plenty of stalls selling authentic Taipei food. We tried the braised pork over rice and it... More

-solid night market dining -most street level and underground offered so much variety of food -the pricing is significantly cheaper than north America and other Asian cities -make sure to get the Taiwanese sausages, chicken steak, pork dumplings and blowtorch steak cubes

Would have been a lovely visit if I didn't patronise the fruit stall first. Paid $17 for a few fruits which was absolutely ridiculous. The shop auntie kept cutting the fruits continuously although we kept telling her we don't want so much and pushed all the cut fruits to us charging us 350 NTD (~$17). Very disgusted by the way...
