We watched a Chinese opera at Taipeieye. We booked the tickets and paid for it online and was easy to pick up tickets at the box office. I hadn't read any reviews and never watched Chinese opera (though have watched a lot of European Opera)...More

So first, the obvious: This is a show meant for tourists. But this should not detract you. Although the audience is almost all foreigners, the show is very good, and this opera style is obviously a big part of Taiwanese heritage and you should explore...More

Stumbled on to this via TripAdvisor. High quality performances by people who are clearly passionate about the show. We had a 90 minute show including intermission. Acrobatics and martial arts demonstration was top notch!

Teipei eye is accessible by any transportation in Taipei, I took the trains so it was quite a walk through shops and a hospital. The walk to and fro was an added bonus during my Taipei sightseeing. Going back, the ushers were kind to direct...More

This is a Chinese opera performance. However, before the performance you can watch the performers putting on make-up, getting dressed (you can even get dressed in one of the costumes and they will gladly take you picture(s)) and practicing for the performance. The first half...More

This was a very enjoyable way to spend an hour. I loved that it was not overly long and the tickets for two of us were around $28 USD. I purchased them online ahead of time and the process of picking them up at the...More

As a Westerner, there's no denying that this comes across as a bit bizarre. The singing, which is generally limited to the first 15 minutes or so, is more of a high pitched wailing (there are subtitles). After that, it became more of an acrobatic...More

The family which operates this theater clearly cares about quality cultural entertainment, their community, and the country of Taiwan. The show, which changes periodically, is entertaining and fun. It is not simply Chinese opera. The experience is a multi-dimensional performance of poignant acting and story-telling,...More

I am planning to watch just 1 show and can't decide between the acrobat, lion dance and opera. My main purpose is to let the kids (11, 9) see traditional Chinese opera makeup and those stuff but since they won't understand the story obviously, I'm afraid we might get bored. Are there any opera faces at all in the lion dance or acrobat show? Is there a show that combines abit of everything? Also, the website mentions lion dance and acrobat shows are only on Sat but when I tried to select the date, I can actually select weekdays too. What does that mean? Thanks in advance for any info.
