Three are extensive roadworks around the gate which make it inaccessible, these works look like they will be ongoing for awhile.

We happened upon this site and were underwhelmed. There are works currently being undergone around it. Nothing much to see. If it is out of your way, don't bother.

Taipei once had walls around the city. The North Gate is a survivor. It's quite impressive, well consgrucrd and worth look. Just watch out for the traffic, which is intense.

One of the few surviving gates that used to guard entrance to Taipei, this is the only one you can actually reach out and touch. There's not much here though. Just a big brick and stone structure and a nice arch. There's no access to anything inside. Good photo op, but not much else.

I visited the site when my primary target was the Station nearby. It was an isolated small building. It cost me five minutes. 我造訪這個景點時,其實當時只是為了最終要去附近的台北車站。這是一個很孤立的建築。造訪此地花費了我五分鐘的時間。

This gate is small but has historic significance. Nearby is a historic post office and a couple other buildings (these are all marked on the Lonely Planet Taipei walking tour). Not a must see but good if you are in the area.

It is impressive to think you are standing in front of a gate from the Qing era. A must see for its historical significance. It is not worth going there only for the gate, but the site can easily be combined in a walking tour with other sites nearby: the Red House and the Longshan Temple.

Near Taipei Main Station, and there is an new MRT station as North Gate, so access is very easy and also easy to find, but the builging itself is not worth to visit. If you visit around there, it might be one choice to visit. Around the gate, several big roads are surrounding it, the gate only stands on.Not so... More

Whilst it is located these days under a busy freeway overpass you can imagine that it would have been quite a formidable structure in its day. Whilst I wouldn't be going out if my way to visit the gate if you are close by it's a good photo spot.
