- mic_leowSingapore, Singapore375 contributionsBustling Areas with lots of good and shoppingXMD is a must visit place when you are in Taipei. The whole areas are filled with tourists and locals especially at night. Lots of restaurants, food kiosks, souvenirs shops etc. Many buskers will also be out performing in the street at night. Best to visit during evening time to bask in the atmosphere. The famous Ah Chung mianxian is also situated there. You won't miss it because of the endless queue.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2023
- BrettyMelbourne, Australia12 contributionsThe Times Square of TaipeiThe Times Square of Taipei. It’s bright, bold with a lot of activity. A bit of a hot spot for retail and travellers looking for that last minute souvenir. It’s not where I’d choose to spend much of my time in such an exciting city, but it’s worth a wander around. There’s also a pretty good fried chicken stand there.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 June 2023
- Gene PSan Fernando, Philippines648 contributionsNight market delightThis place is near our hotel. The place has lots of streets to explore.. Food, clothing, shops and food restaurants and kiosk galore. A lot of street performers and good place to shop, people watch and photos opportunity. A good place to keep coming back.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2023
- HengSingapore, Singapore3,736 contributionsBitter gourd juiceThis is our third trip to Taiwan and all three involves ximending. There are so many things to do here, watch street performances, shopping, street food, proper restaurants, claw machines. Right at the northern entrance to this place, there is a stall selling bitter gourd juice. For those brave enough, it is actually quite good. Come and try it.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2023
- JuneSingapore, Singapore42 contributionsLively night market! Can’t miss this lively night market! I would recommend coming from 630 to 7pm onwards to see the market in full swing. Ximending sells your typical street food carts, along with many restaurants and small shops selling souvenirs. I prefer this to Raohe market.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 September 2023
- Steven SPattaya, Thailand754 contributionsWorth a visit at nightVery popular area best visited from around 6pm. I assumed some streets become pedestrian only. Hundreds of shops around the area to suit all budgets. Everything is modern looking with all the neon lights to go with it. The night I visited it was very busy but I suspect it's busy every night. Certainly worth grabbing a bite to eat and having a walk around.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 26 October 2023
- Abovetheclouds2,442 contributionsWhat you expect! Asia nights. This is Asia. You know the drill, bright lights, shops, food, entertainment, neon billboards and loads of people. Great atmosphere with buskers playing music and all sorts of things going on. There are High Street names like H&M to traditional shops, food stalls and more. So much going on. A mix of everything!Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 October 2023
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia14,153 contributionsWanhua is the Kingdom of YouthXimending is the Kingdom of Youth. The area is known as "West Gate." It's a favorite area for young people to hang out, especially students. There are lots of cheap eateries, and transport on the MRT is convenient. Ximending adjoins the Wanhua district, one of the oldest areas of Taipei. You can wander around for hours, there's lots to see and do.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 November 2023

Needed a half day itinerary at least. Taiwanese classics made popular , such as the milk tea , fried chicken and hand pulled noodles are not to be missed . Only drawback was that it was a struggle to finding public restrooms.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023

Ximending is a must see in Taipei. There are numerous stores, restaurants and cafe. General price is reasonable to slightly higher as it is also a tourist attraction. There are so many things to see, eat and indulge.

This is more like a shopping area with pockets of street food vendors here and there. It is very crowded and bustling. Not my kind of scene, I prefer traditional settings like Ningxia night market.

You can find the famous rainbow road. It's a busy area filled with a variety of food stalls and shops that sell items from clothing, souvenirs etc. Buskers and street performers are around the area too.

If you are planning to experience the nightlife of Ximending, I suggest you stay until 10.00pm. If you only merely want to try out some foods around the area, max I give it around 3 hours will do.
Nothing much to shop there; as is pretty much the same compare to other area but many food joints you can go for.

Didn't notice abt restaurants at Ximending, but definitely more eateries and restaurants at Yongkang area. Most popular and great food and service is Ding Tai Feng at Yongkang.
