Complete nightmare - the management at this pier is incompetent
Nov 2019 • Family
This was listed as an easy option to get a free shuttle ferry to ASIATIQUE. Think ahead and if you get there and see a queue, just pay up or leave. Basically the staff kept reorganising the queues so that if people decided to pay they then get priority to board the ferry. This resulted in almost an hour or more of waiting thinking we were almost able to get on a ferry. It should not be advertised as a free ferry if staff can make everyone wait until people finally cave and pay the fee to board the ferry first. Staff were incompetent and simply unhelpful when we tried to ask them about the queuing system. They kept saying we were next...

River Ferry and River Cruise Hub
Mar 2020 • Couples
We came here to pick up a River Cruise Ferry. There's 3 or 4 to choose from, as well as a local ferry service. The touts for each company are eager to get your business, so be prepared to be harassed.
When we came here at the end of the day we had a walk around the local market area nearby.
Sathorn Pier is next to a BTS station so easy to get to.

It’s a pier
Feb 2020
There’s not much to say other than this is a pier where different ferries come and go. Be alert for your fe
Err yes they are not announced and they pull in, load up, and ship out. The schedules are pretty on time and the waiting area is well lit and there are plenty of people about. Walk to the sky train from the pier.

A river transport hub
Jan 2020
This place is often crowded and somewhat cunfusing. Here you can find river boat trips, free shuttle boats to Asiatique and Icon Siam. The hop on hop off river "bus". The river cruise and boat trip companies will be all over you here so you have to find what you need. Look at the signs or ask the staff. We found some staff sitting at a table in the middle there and they were very helpful. You get here by taking the BTS / skytrain to Sapan Thaksin station and walk 100 meters

Just a place to get a boat tour
Jan 2020
I was expecting more restaurants and shops, but not much there except the boat tours. Not really a destination.

Gateway to our discovery of Bangkok’s culture
Dec 2019 • Family
The river was the best way to access most of Bangkok’s historic shrines and temples. It takes us away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s traffic and allow a leisurely ride between the places of interests.

confusing but ultimately essential to river travel
Nov 2019
Travel on the river is essential to traveling north given the gridlock on the roads. It was a good thing I researched this river access point ahead of time because once I got down there, trying to figure out what to do is very confusing. And of course several other boat companies have built whole industries around tourists not being able to get on the express boats. But if you go there, do what you can to find the express boat line and skip the hop-on-hop-off and tourist boats if you can. Of course you have to know exactly where you want to get off the boat before you board, so do your research and make yourself a note because these Thai pier names can be very confusing.

Excellent mode of Transportation for the attractions
Sep 2019
Sathorn Pier is the place that you can get transportation to all the attractions, I would recommend the blue flag ( hop and hop off boat for tourists) though the price here is a little more expensive than the orange or gold flag boats the frequency seems to be much higher and you would save time waiting in line. You can also hire your own boat from Sathorn. which can make a good experience

Main hub of river cruise
Mar 2019 • Solo
Sathorn Pier is the main pier in Bangkok along the Chao Phraya river. You can take any type of boat rides including flag boats, hop on hop off tourists boats and private boat taxis as well from this pier. It provides easy access from BTS trains from the Shapan Taksin station. Most of the people use river boats for easy mode of transportation and tourists can access many attractions along the river like Wat Arun Temple.

The Chao Phraya hub!
Aug 2018 • Family
This pier is also called Central Pier. It is situated bellow the Taksin bridge. It is located on the west side of Chao Pharaya river next to the Saphan Taksin BTS station. It is the main junction from where locals as well as tourists have an option of boarding one of the five shuttle boats, namely tourist , local, orange, yellow, green-yellow and blue boats. The tourist boat has better seats and a running commentary on the tourist sites. The boats also provide access to most of the grand hotels along the river. You can also reach the Asiatique Riverfront by taking a shuttle from here.
