I'm just back in the UK after visiting Bangkok. I was wondering whether to get some clothes made to measure and, if so, which tailor to choose. I'd heard some establishments rip you off, and was also worried whether I had time to get a suit done properly - I was only in Bangkok Sunday evening to Tuesday. Reassured by the excellent reviews, I went into the shop on Sunday evening and was measured up for a suit, two pairs of trousers and three shirts. I was astounded by the quality of the materials, the value for money, the professionalism and speed of the service. On Monday lunchtime I had my first fitting, where further alterations were made, and by Monday evening the finished garments were ready! John packed them expertly for me to take back on the plane. So if you're in a similar position, I'd completely recommend New Hollywood Fashion. John is a very talented, and a real gentleman. Have a think beforehand about what you want - it helps if you know what style of suit or shirt you're thinking of - maybe take photos with you. It was my first visit to a tailor in Thailand, and John was an excellent choice. He is a fluent English speaker and is able to make personalized suggestions for each individual customer’s needs. He has a wide range of fabrics and designs to choose from, and was able to produce a beautifully-tailored shirt for a first fitting within 24 hours of taking my measurements.
