This is a large roundabout in Thon Buri where the statue of King Thaksin is situated. This area used to be a major business area of Thonburi, before urbanisation reached the outer area of Bangkok. There are many markets, retail outlets, department stores and cinemas as well as restaurants and street food stalls. The area is also famous for the... More

A stroll around the roundabout is a great glimpse of Thai life in Bangkok for those of us foreigners who see mostly tourist traps. The food markets are amazing to see and if you take the time to look, great Little food stalls, take home bakeries and coffee shops to try out. Our hotel (Bangkok Loft Inn) was right around... More

BTS bring you a station which is 15 minutes away from the big circle with large Taksin statue at the center. Good local atmosphere especially at the market on the way to the circle and the railway terminal.

In order to appreciate Wongwian Yai area, visitor must understand that 60 years ago Bangkok Metropolitan was divided into two cities, Bangkok and Thonburi. The only bridge connecting the two cities was Sapan Phut that ran from the present Flower Market (Pak Klong Talad) to Wongwian Yai which was the center of Thonburi. Now visiting Wongwian Yai is to see... More

(Go get one 5555) Lovely atmosphere, real thai in a lot of meanings... Food, style, social.... Good place for longstay (just 14 min to siam with bts without change... More
