The largest and most important Chinese Buddhist temple in Bangkok. I go there at Chinese New Year, and it was very crowded but worth a visit. Difficult to explain the atmosphere and the smells, you need to feel it by yourself...

Part of your walk through China Town must be by here. Wonderful place to stumble upon and snap a few pictures. I little piece of scenery in the middle of the busy China town.

It brought me back to my roots. I have never set foot in China but being here allowed me to connect with the history of my grandparents. Very deep and profound experience for me.

This Chinese temple in China town was a little hard to find and then once we found it it took some time to find the entrance. The place in nearly 150 years old and the outside looks like something shady is going on so it was pretty cool going in there. The inside is really quite neat and looks as... More

Wat Mangkon Kamalawat is unique for Bangkok as it is the largest Chinese Buddhist temple in the city. It is a Mahayana Buddhist temple built in Chinese style circa 1871. It is accessible by a gate just off of Charoen Krung Rd. and its Chinese-style edifice makes it a difficult site to miss. The temple is less likely to have... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
