Neighbourhood: Chatuchak
Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

Second visit to this enormous market.
The whole thing seemed a bit more organised and easier to navigate this time. It is truly immense and seems to cater to just about any taste. We found a very chilled restaurant/ bar area which was a great spot for a bit of lunch and a few beers. This is not just a tourist market, as evidenced by the numbers of Thais in attendance. I noticed a definite reluctance to bargain and as farang we will undoubtedly have been paying more for most things than Thai people. Well worth a visit.

Good trip, trip a couple of hours
It is a unique market because of its size. We visited it in 2020 and again in 2023. We didn’t find it as interesting this time as there didn’t appear to be as much variety. Many many stores selling the same or similar items. It is worth visiting and easy to get to by metro.

    Must Do!!
If you are lucky enough to be in BKK on Saturday or Sunday, I would consider this market a must do. It has literally everything you can imagine and with good prices too. My biggest suggestion is to locate a map of the market ahead of time and plan where to enter the market and where to shop so that you don’t get lost and waste time. Also the food options are pretty limited considering the volume of people at the market so when you see food you want, just buy it! We had an amazing time and got some great souvenirs.

    Same Same
Chatuchak Market has always been one of the "Musts" for me and 2 years after pandameic hit, I was sad to feel a different vibe in the market. There are new shops for sure but these shops are pricier than the ones before. Many shops inside the alleyways have lesser customers compared to the ones outside. I would highly suggest that these stores come up with good marketing strategies to attract more customers. There are more second hand than brand new items and some (not all) sellers do not also have much of an interest when customers come. Haggling in Chatuchak also became a challenge and the prices are the same as the stores in the city. Most shops refuse to lower down their prices and stick to the price tags of the items. However, for first timers in Bangkok, I would still highly suggest visiting this place as this is still a tourist attraction.

    Thailand's Ultimate Outdoor Shopping Experience
The mother of unique Bangkok retail experiences is undoubtedly Chatuchak Weekend Market, Thailand’s largest outdoor bazaar. Known as Jatujak or simply JJ, it has 15,000 stalls spread over 35 acres and sells almost everything under the sun. This is the place to buy a Beatles cushion or shop for a new pet cobra or a hand-carved Buddha icon. With 200,000 people descending on the market every weekend, it’s best to come early, and perseverance can uncover a veritable treasure trove of collectibles ranging from beautiful ceramics and handicrafts to exquisite jewelry.

All i could describe is " WOW" Amazing Thailand!
Overall pleasant experience. Not as crowded as before but most of the shops along the Main Street still open. Remember to look out for the meatball stall and the stall selling coconut ice cream and mango sticky rice (refer to photos). Meatballs handmade on the spot and it was so good we ordered again 🤪✌🏼. Inner lane shops were mostly closed but we didn’t have time for that also 😂 came at around 12 and left at 6pm with many loots. Rained on the day we came so remember to bring an umbrella as there are shops on both sides of the street

Excellent possibility to see the real Bangkok
This market is still mainly aiming on the locals. Why the number of tourists is rising, the number of shops selling fakes is still bearable. Here, you can walk around and enjoy the busy and crowded atmosphere. The street food is real street food and not served in some artificial "street food shop" situated in one the shopping malls. Getting there is easy by using BTS and debarking at Mo Chit station. As the name clearly states, the market takes place on the weekends, starting at Friday evening.

    Controlled Chaos
This place is over the top on what is available for viewing - eating - purchasing. I would suggest a person go early in the day to avoid the heat. As you enter they have a guide (map) so you can “kind of” figure out where you are and what direction you might want to go… enjoy!

    From knives to snakes
So many stalls selling so many different things. Clothes to plants. Went to animal area where cats and dogs all seem to be well looked after but saw some big cats not sure of their name but seemed they should not be there. Snakes, Guinea pigs, tropical fish. Whow great place for a day out

Our Tuk Tuk driver was so fun. He spoke little English but we understood each other well (mostly by his body language haha). We got to taste so many tasty street foods thanks to our guide, Top. He was awfully great too. recommend this if you want to see Bangkok at night. So much more charming than the day.

Go, its huge and great fun and bargains to be had.
the Biggest market - ever, but its all 'zoned' so just remember which zone you're in.
There's plenty of places to stop for a drink or a foot massage.

We visited the market as a first stop after our arrival in BKK - in general, lots of interesting stuff and friendly atmosphere (sellers not too aggressive) - certainly, it is very hot under the sun however inside of the shops quite acceptable …

Absolutely perfect for some one like me who loves browsing and window shopping all day everyday great things to buy at incredible prices. Toilets everywhere in clean and tidy order heads up take some tissues with you just in case. Excellent food 🤤🤤 and a great easy going slow paced atmosphere 🥳 don’t go if you like to rush! enjoy the slow moving vibe and be respectful when passing in the narrow walking isles.

A fantastic market that is like a tardis; much larger than it initially appears. After 2 hours we realised we had barely scratched the surface. Plenty of souvenirs, clothes, home wear and food available.

Highly recommend allocating 4+ hours to really experience the market atmosphere. Toilets are 5 baht to use and clean.

This is the best market in town. It’s also one of the biggest. I think my only knock on this market is it’s easy to get lost in the amount of endless vendors to look at. It’s hard to really navigate through this market properly. But of there is anything a person could need, it would be found here. Not only that but the food vendors are some of the lowest priced in town but at the same time serving the best tasting and quality food.

If you are in Bangkok, take the time to check this place out and definitely eat here. You won’t be disappointed.

Been to this market on a previous trip & was VERY keen to go again. Anything you can think of you can prob find. Great prices
We got lots of bargains & presents

We spent a few hours - take a large bag with you so you're not carrying loads of bags or even a mini suitcase.

We went on a Friday evening so not everything was open and there was still a ton to see! Lots of different shops and the row of food stalls had tons of delicious options! It's right off the train line and really easy to get to. Highly recommend :)
