We got a red taxi up to the temple from central Chiang Mai. Cost 600bht return, possibly slightly more than we were hoping for but my bartering skills are naff :-). Nice drive up the hills with places to stop and take in the scenery....More

After a winding road through a thick forested mountain the base of 300 stairs are reached to get to the Phra that doi Suthep. The climb up the "Naga staircase" is well worth the effort to see this most revered Buddhist shrine in N Thailand....More

Definitely a nice temple, but nothing compared to the temples in Bangkok (Grand Palace, Wat Pho...). Nice view of the mountains though!

Nice views, you can see all of Chiangmai from the deck. The temple is very nice also. Will take you an hour to get there. Very step climb. Cooler than in town. Worth a visit.

This was just like all the other temples I saw in Thailand, except more crowded. Sure it's beautiful, but there are so many other temples that are beautiful AND peaceful.
