The gate is ok, nothing special just where to old town meets the new, also the start of the Sunday night market. Aso a collection of street foods stall here though if ever hungry

Tha Phae Gate is the main gate of the old city walk. Nice place to go see and read about it's history. Not much happening doing the day but at night lots more entertainment to enjoy. Plenty of resturant's and bars nearby to sit and relax in.

This is one of the five original gates of the walled city which was completely rebuilt. The best time to visit this place is n Saturday evening. Generally a live band performs here.

As we always stay nearby from this place we pass by many times It is always lively. Something is always happening here. Musical programs or beauty contest or tribal meetings. We have attended many such programs. Even otherwise it is a good place to sit or walk in THE evening. Daytime plenty pigeons are around and people are busy feeding... More

the gateway to the wonderful chaos that is the old city and the Sunday walking market. If you don;t like crowds - avoid the evening markets and tour the city and visit the temples early on the day. Just be mindful that the heat is worse mid-day.

for anyone who visits Chiangmai, you cannot miss the Gate as it is in the central part of the city. It is within 5 minutes to the Sunday evening night market and within walking distance to restaurants and bars. the parts of the City behind the walls denote the Old Part of Chiangmai

We were in the M Hotel in front of the Gate, and found it a great location marker, but the noise from late-night rock concerts got a bit overwhelming though a hill-tribe fair on site was well-conceived and attended. Access point to the Night Markets and bookstores.
