The small temple is located near Chang Phuak Gate ( north gate ). It was built just after the founding of Chiang Mai in 1296. The main attraction is the stupa "supported / resting on the back of 15 elephants"

The ground are so well cared for, not too much commercialism upon entering and the elephants are amazing. Early morning is gorgeous here...

If you are into history and tired of seeing many of the same temples that are around much of southeast Asia, this is a great places to go, very beautiful and great hosttory.

There is nothing in Wat chiang man that cannt be seen in Wat chedi luang, old pyramid and a temple structure but only smaller and without anything interesting about besides maybe history.

What an off the beaten path Wat. This is one worth seeing. 9 meter high Buddha in a building that is so incredibly respectful. Make this the one you see!

Wonderful temple to visit in Chiang Mai. Wonderful grounds...very serene and beautiful. And of course, the buddha statues are magnificent. Simply spectacular to see!

The little Buddha in the wihan could be 1800 years old (some contest it and say it's 15th century, that still makes it pretty old). Very nice temple. Good place to hang around and enjoy the passage of time.

Stumbled across this while touring the city, large area beyond the gate with a large temple. Like all the temples, it has a aura of peace. It's amazing to see century old structures still beloved by the Buddhists of modern Chiang Mai.
