Is it fine to visit and not ride an elephant? I personally don't feel riding is okay, I just want to see the elephants.. does it require any fee?

I would like to ask why this is still being shown on TripAdvisor when it is widely accepted Riding elephants is cruel. The person who said it was great and the elephants are well looked after obviously didn’t notice the sharp hook in the mahouts hand - a clue. Google Breaking the Spirit to see what these lovely animals go through so you can sit on them. TripAdvisor disgusted with you!

Why is this place advertising as a sanctuary when they are clearly an animal entertainment venue? The definition of a sanctuary is a place of refuge or rest, a place where you can feel at peace and restful. I would like to ask how elephant riding, tug of war, basket ball, talent shows etc are peaceful and restful? Elephants are some of the world’s most awe-inspiring animals. They are also among the most abused when forced to entertain the public by “giving” rides and forced to do other unnatural and painful acts. Travel companies around the world profit from some of the cruellest types of wildlife tourist attractions on earth. Whether it is riding elephants, taking selfies with tigers, or performing dolphin shows, these activities can cause lifelong suffering for wild animals.  Riding elephants. In order to make elephants submit to elephant rides and other human interactions, they are taken from their mothers when babies and forced through a horrific training process known as ‘the crush’. It involves physical restraints, inflicting severe pain and withholding food and water. By the time tourist come to ride an elephant, it may look at peace, but this is because it’s spirit has been broken. The bullhook used permanently reminds the animal of human dominance. The cruelty does not end after the crush. When not performing or used for rides most elephants are kept on chains, unable to socially interact with one another. This is hugely damaging to their physical and psychological wellbeing. Elephants are meant to roam with their families over vast distances, captive elephants are typically kept tightly chained and separated from their friends and loved ones. Up to 550,000 wild animals are currently enduring lifetimes of suffering at tourist entertainment venues globally. Tourists should be given the opportunity to enjoy the animals in their natural habitats not only to prevent animal suffering but to protect wildlife. Animals are not entertainers.
