Sunday 16th February and we were booked on a boat tour to Phi Phi Island. Although we booked the tour through Sun Leisure World, the Operator was Sea Angel Tours.
We arrived at Sea Angel Pier about 09.00 am, where we checked in and introduced to our Guide Ying, who pointed out it was not to be confused with Ling which means Monkey.
At this point we also had to pay a 30 Baht payment for insurance, was not expecting that.
Before our departure we were briefed about the tour by a delightfully charming individual. The presentation was very informative and very well done and rather comical at times, our attention was held throughout. We were told about the aspects of the tour, the do's and dont's and the cost of all the watersport extras.
We did purchase some rubber soled shoes here 350 Baht, about £8 a pair. Perhaps a bit expensive, but glad we did purchase them, they were invaluable on the tour.
About 10 o'clock we boarded our speedboat and headed off on the tour.
The first stop of the tour was on the small beautiful island of Khai Nai (reviewed separately). We spent 90 minutes here where we could snorkel, included in the price or other activities which were an extra cost. Deck chairs were a 100 Baht to rent.
Water and pineapple were provided. Other drinks, beers and cocktails could be purchased.
It was soon time to move on, so we reboarded the boat and off we went. We stopped by another Island, from memory think it was Pi Leh Cove. This was another opportunity to snorkel, getting into the water from the boat.
There were then photo opportunities at Viking Cave, Monkey Bay and Maya Beach
on Ko Phi Phi Lee.
On arrival on Phi Phi Don it was time for lunch at Arida Restaurant (reviewed separately).
After lunch we had time to explore and walk about the labyrinth of lanes packet with shops, bar and restaurants. We did stop for a cold beer in RS Corner (reviewed separately).
It took about 50 minutes for our return trip from Phi Phi Don to Phuket, arriving at about 16.15. This is where we picked up our transport back to the hotels.
Overall it most a most enjoyable trip, we saw some amazing scenery enjoyed skipping across the waves in a speedboat. Our Guide was full of information and looked after us well. All of the staff we encountered where very helpful.

Fun times with Tommy and the Sea Angel crew on our economical cruise to James Bond Island.
Didn’t see Mr Scaramanga (the villain from The Man With The Golden Gun), but saw some amazing views and went canoeing at Hong island.
Buffet lunch on board was local food, rustic, tasty and plentiful and the Bollywood dancing on deck on the way back to the pier was a hoot.
A word of warning, the minibus ride to the pier from the hotel area is about 2 hours each way, so be prepared!
If you are looking for luxury, this is not it (hence the 3 stars), but if you are on a budget and looking for a cheap and fun day out to see the islands and be looked after my a friendly crew - this certainly ticks the boxes.

There are two ways to go to James Bond Island, such as Phi Phi Island. Fast boats and hull boats. Our choice was SEA ANGEL. The ship has a higher speed than other slow-moving ships and has a different and more equipped appearance (those ships look like launches). Before going to the pier, you will first be taken to visit the Samet Nangshe viewpoint.
The place to ride is from a pier called Klong Khien Pier, which is a private pier of SEA ANGEL company and it is possible to travel by car up to a few meters from the ship. Along the way you will pass by green mountains and similar to James Bond, and due to the lack of strong shocks, photography is easily possible; The nose of the ship will also be a good place to take photos and videos. The journey time from the pier to James Bond Island is about 1:15.
Near the island of James Bond, the ship stops to be transported to land by smaller boats. It will take you 20 minutes to move, so we only had 20 minutes to go around and take pictures and record memories; That was very little time. We were delayed by about twenty minutes when we returned from the island to the ship due to lack of boats.
The self-service lunch included rice, fried chicken shoulder, noodles with its own special sauce, salad, the famous Tom Yum Thai soup, water, watermelon and fresh pineapple. They sold soft drinks, chips, and beer separately. Tea, coffee and biscuits were also provided free of charge.
Hong Island stops for canoeing, and both riders will be led by a canoe runner.

Dear hoomanp101
Firstly let me apologise for the delay in replying to your review. I am sure you can appreciate it has been a very difficult year for us here in Phuket, however the whole of Phuket is getting ready to open again to international tourism in the coming weeks - hopefully July or August 21. Secondly thank you for your very nice and detailed review of your trip with Sea Angel. Every traveler will benefit from your words and we are so happy that you enjoyed your trip with us and of course the inclusive buffet lunch. We hope to welcome you back to Phuket and hope you will spend another day trip at sea with us here at Sea Angel.
Thanks and Best Regards
Woonsen

Great experience cost 1600bht,vip Air conditioned car to the pier from kata beach, transfer to speed boat about 40 of us so much better than the ferry, sexy Susie was our wonderful host clear and succinct information given very friendly and lively host. For me James bond not the highlight I preferred the floating panyee village and canoeing in the caves around Hong Island was just great, lunch on a floating restaurant and cocktails on the beach. What's not to like. A very enjoyable day

A long debriefing became very painful when the host continually referred to the group as “darling “ time and again “darling “ many people were getting very annoyed. Finally at the end he reveals how he wants Leonardo De Caprio as his boyfriend. I don’t know how management allow this to occur, particularly when we were all standing in the hot sun.
Once we finally boarded our tour guide known as “ pineapple “ started where he left off , attempting to be humorous, loud and boisterous with irrelevant information first and important information last. She had no regard for the ocean environment when one passenger asked if we should retrieve a plastic bottle in a beautiful location where we were mored, her response “ just leave it , there’s only another bottle that will come. We ignored her and retrieved.
Another sore point was how the smokers were given the best and only position on the boat to stink us all out.
Finally “pineapple”has the audacity to demand from us high tipping even thrusting a bucket in front of our face.
If you choose a speed boat for this trip, ask about the seating arrangements because it is very uncomfortable being seated around the boat rather than looking forward from the boat. Once the boat hits high speed, your left or right side is higher than the other for the next hour.

Hey there! Had the high speed boat tip with private long tail boat at James Bond island with my girlfriend. I would say the tip was amazing!!
Our guide was Spicy, the positive attitude of her really lifted ou spirits up throughout the day. You need the positivity because it is a physically demanding tour. The boat is really loud, but for the speed you need it. It is a good idea to have something to stuff your ears when you are at high speed. The seating is also not so comfortable but if you want to travel that fast on sea you have to compromise you comfort a little :)
The scenes we had the photos everything was beautiful. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Spicy on board because you need to hear the jokes and the history from her. Also, she has amazing photoshooting skills and with her phone she took wonderful pictures of me and my girlfriend. The photos quality and aesthetic were wedding photography material. I highly recommend to let her take your pictures.
I hope I can do the tour again. Bye bye!

The trip turned into a complete nightmare for us. We had chosen the speed boat one-day tour with the promise of a premium experience and were willing to pay a higher price compared to most other tour providers. Unfortunately, the reality of the trip was far from our expectations.
To our shock, we witnessed blatant racism as they separated European tourists and Asian tourists, forcing them to sit in different boats. The tour guide, a woman, was not only incredibly rude but also displayed a complete lack of concern for anyone on the tour. She didn't bother to answer questions properly and even made fun of the tourists.
At one point, she managed to convince some families to prematurely end their trip by exaggerating the weather conditions and arranging for them to return to the starting point on a larger boat. Although the weather was not ideal, she pretended to be concerned for the families. However, as soon as those people left the tour midway, she callously laughed at them. Some of her comments, like "Don't blame or complain to me if we encounter huge waves" and "I know how to swim and can save myself, but I'm not so sure about you people," were particularly hurtful.
What was even more disheartening was the company's clear discrimination between white tourists and those with black or brown skin. They provided medicines and additional assistance to the boats with white passengers, while neglecting us entirely.
In summary, our experience on this trip was not only disappointing but also marred by racism and a disrespectful tour guide who made our excursion a nightmarish ordeal.

Overall, Sea Angle arange an adequate tour
They lose points due to the below
Deceptions.
They advised all participants (200+) that food and drinks are more expensive on Phi Phi island and other stops, so if you want to save money, buy from their store at the pier. This was untrue, Phi Phi was less expensive, and the tour operator is disasvantaging the businesses in Phi Phi and other stops.
They advised all participants that sand slippers are really important and almost compulsory due to challenging beach walks and see urchins. They are for sale at their pier and would have sold to more that half of the passengers at hugely inflated prices.
They advised all participants that they needed to book a long tail boat via their own service at 1600bht to see a beautiful bay. They said that long tail boat could not be booked at Phi Phi.
This is untrue. You can book long tail boats at the island and for less that half the price.
Sea Angle just makes sure that they don't allow access to the available long tail boats on the island.
This would not be so bad if Sea Angel charged the fair rate that is available on the island.
Items outside of the operators control
Phi Phi island and neighbouring islands are a victim of mass tourism. It is clear that we, interested holiday makers want to see this environmental beauty.
Trouble is, there are clearly too many visitors for the space available. It is wreaking havoc on the environment and it is distressing.
At some stage really soon, the businesses and people benefiting from this mass tourism need to give back, build better infrastructure from rubbish management to boat management and marine conservation. If they do not, another natural beauty will be lost and everyone loses.
All said and done, Sea Angel have become greedy and are deceiving their customers and are taking from the very island businesses that make the destination people want to go and see.
And
Thai tourism needs to step in to repair and preserve this once beautiful destination.
A point to note, we are not victoms of this deception. We witnessed this behaviour unfolding and feel for the paying customers and want to warn future visitors.
Consider alternate providers who are genuine trustworthy operators.
Enjoy Phuket. Or, if you want to experience true Thai culture and natural beauty, head to the southern Thailand Islands, or those islands in The Gulf of Thailand. It's a much more personal experience free of corporate greed.

The economy class has no views and you are not allowed up to the balconies until the crew let you at designated times. If we had know this we wouldn’t have booked this boat. Air conditioning was good and strong. Only one serve of a drink during the entire trip on the boat. And no water, you have to buy. The Snorkeling was fun. The buffet at Phi Phi Island was ok, highlight was the chicken noodle soup - that was delicious! The cruise was well organised. In hindsight we would have picked an older and open boat as to sit outside in the fresh air. Toilets clean. Seats small like airplane economy class.

The experience was amazing. We visited a few different islands, the tour guide "spicy" was an absolute angel, explained things in English and Spanish for my in-laws to understand, and did his best to make the trip memorable for everyone.
Only negative would be the food buffet, which didn't have many options, but Spicy tried his best and was able to get some extra food for us.
Would recommend people to take the tour, but to have money for food and tips for the crew as they do a great job. Would do it again 😁😁
