Can’t get in to see. Nice outside but many broken windows covered up. Would have been better if you could see inside. I guess the only way is to go to a mass.

Pretty building, with loads of outbuildings, including one that is a shop. Appears the Cathedral is only open at times of Mass. Strange, when the shop keeps hours that are very retail minded! Perhaps the soul is not needing as much attention !

What a terrible and disrespectful experience! I visited the Dalat cathedral for Christmas Eve mass with my girlfriend. When I went to receive the holy communion, the priest would not give it to me. I said what? He said are you Catholic, I said yes I am. Showed him the cross around my neck and said what is this? He still refused to give me the holy communion! Such a terrible disrespect. I am a white European Catholic, what does he expect me to be, a Hindu or Buddhist? I said to them did Jesus refuse to give bread? You should be ashamed of yourselves. You gave me and my girlfriend a terrible experience on this holy day of Christmas eve. You should learn to trust others and give to others instead of being so untrusting and mean.

We passed by the cathedral on two occasions and both times it as closed. However it is an impressive building when viewed from the outside. It is also known as St. Nicholas Cathedral and we discovered later it is only open at 5.15 am for one hour and another hour in the evening.

The extravagant exteriors—centuries-old vibe—are every bit as picture-worthy as if there were biblical treasures displayed inside.
If you visit on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, try stay for the evening mass. Nothing beats a chilly evening sitting in a big ornate cathedral and joining a holy ritual.

The St. Nicholas Cathedral (Vietnamese: Nhà thờ chính tòa Đà Lạt, French: Cathédrale Saint-Nicolas) also called St Nicholas of Bari Cathedral (Nhà Thờ Chình Toà Thánh Nicola Bari) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, seat of the diocese of Da Lat, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh (alternatively still called Saigon). It is located in Da Lat,[2] capital of Lam Dong province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.[3] There are five masses every Sunday. The building was built as a Catholic parish by the French in 1931-1932 in an eclectic style Romanesque, but the interior was not completed until 1942.[4] It replaces an old church built in 1917 with modifications in the chancel.
The town in the mountains at 1,500 meters above sea level was then where the colonial elite and the Vietnamese came to rest and escape the heat. It is also a place where tuberculosis patients came for treatment in sanatoriums. The Pasteur Institute was opened in 1935. There was a European cemetery around the church, which is no longer in use.(Wiki)
