Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

Halong Bay - a UNESCO world heritage site is an unbelievable and amazing place. We did the 3D-2N cruise on Bhaya cruises and the boat was a small one with just 5 cabins. Sharing with 7 other people it was a fantastic experience. Crew was brilliant, the scenery was outstanding and there aren't enough words to praise for the trip...... More

Be prepared to be part of a monumental procession through the islands. Hundreds of boats loaded with thousands of tourists accompany you on this journey between the islands and to the bamboo boats to see the water caves. Bring small change to tip the ladies rowing the bamboo boats (they slave away in the heat for 2hrs at a time... More

Halong bay is unique and spectacular. I feel it is a must if you are anywhere near the north of Vietnam. What we saw of the 2000 giant limestone casts and the tranquil green waters were just amazing. Caves, pearl farm, fishing villages and much much more to see. Well worth it.

It a truly unique landscape and definitely beautiful beyond compare. Did a one not cruise with IndoChina, great experience. Our cruise also stopped off at an island with a beach and beautiful vista at the top. Get here before they outlaw the wooden boats.

We just finished a boat tour that booked from HALONG SAPA EXPERTS website agent. It was ended up with our satisfaction and their best effort made us happy with modern transfer from Hanoi to Halong and vice versa , meals and tours to see cave, floating village, island and beach were included in package as promised. Do not miss this... More

Ha Long Bay was a bucket list item for me, but I was sorely disappointed. The scenery of the bay is gorgeous, the formations are stunning, but the mass crowds just make it unpleasant, especially when a visit to Thien Cung Cave is added to your cruise tour (it's the most disgustingly touristy place made out of a beautiful nature... Great limestone formations. Spent parts of two days cruising around. Kayaking however is no longer allowed. Heavy tourist traffic detracts

It's a fantastic experience - Take at least the 3 days 2 nights cruise as the 2nd day is when you see most and enjoy visiting the round atoll with funny monkeys -

Ha long bay it self was beautiful. Great scenery and enjoyed the tour to Surprise cave, and beach, although over crowded. We mistakenly booked through another operator, rather than the one we were recommended (FANTASEA Tours) and chose to do a one night tour. Our accommodation was good, complete with ensuite with hot water, and good pressure. Lunch was good... More

This port has expanded recently as there are many new buildings built around it for dwellings and retail businesses which were empty when I visited. The boat was just for our party on a Saga tour and it was immaculately clean providing adequate seating on the sun deck above and inside in the shade. We spent at least three hours... More
