This place was built between 1805 and 1812 under King Gia Long and is over 2 centuries old. It resembles an old stone fortress and has steps leading to the top where one can get a good view of the city. There are old cannon sitting at the base of the place at grand level.

Tower built in 1812. Old architecture. Lots of weapons and military hardware on display, that were used in the Vietnam War, from 1958 thru 1973. No charge for visiting the exterior displays.

You can see the clock tower from quite a ways off. It is part of the Hanoi Citadel and has been there for about 200 years.

Nice to visit when you're planning a walking tour through the Old Quarter. It's next to the military museum and their is no entrance fee. Some information is given and you have a nice view from each level of the tower and you can make nice pictures. There are some nice restaurants and little bars around too.

We didnt want to go to the war museum but we were walking past and found that you can get a good view and take some good pictures from dien bien phu street near the lenin statue. This is a impressive building and well worth a visit if you are near by.

The Old Flag Tower is next to the Military Museum and can be accessed from the grounds of the museum, it is free to go onto the Flag Tower. It is interesting to look at how it was built and the narrow stairways leading to each floor and the stone bricks used to make the building. You will be able... More

We had quite a few opportunities to view the Flag Tower around the Citidel, Ba Dinh Square area when we were on foot/cyclo riding.

The flag tower is part of the Hanoi citadel, which is not impressive nor is it well kept. You can admire the flag tower from the road and not bother to get in.

This is part of the Army Museum, and is worth viewing as you get quite good views from the lower tiers. Included with the ticket price in the museum.
