I happened upon the Fine Arts Museum only by chance and decided to go on a whim. The layout of the museum is well thought out and efficient with the older art pieces on the first floor and the more modern pieces on the second...More

A visit to this particular museum truly brings home the outcome of earlier wars on the people as well as lifestyle of Vietnam inside a contemplative environment. The varied exhibits have been colourful in ways that are many and provided us an extremely interesting launch...More

The post-1900 art in the main building, on the first and second floor, is really interesting. Clear influence of western artists, mixed with eastern styles and events. Lots of stuff about the war shown from a more complex perspective than just a gun in a...More

I enjoyed the ceramics, but most interesting were local scenes painted in the style of Monet, Matisse and Degas. Exceptional also was a modern Vietnamese Tiger, that I plan to have copied by a local artist.. In my opinion this tour was far and away...More

The museum had a few statues etc, and then most of it was mainly propaganda art, a lot of it quite violent. We took our 9 yr old daughter and it was definitely not suitable.

The same as various other historic monuments in Hanoi, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is really worth the drive to kill some time and also be surrounded by fantastic paintings clearly affected by its history and culture. The contemporary paintings at the fourth and third...More

Definitely worth visiting for insight into Vietnamese Art and History. Spread over two buildings and three floors the collections are well organized and curated. There is also a cafe in the courtyard and a small gift shop

The good art museum has a considerable history of Vietnam via art works. To stroll through each phase totally immerses you in this particular complex and rich history story. Additionally, it has much more contemporary work and also exhibitions of Vietnamese artists. There is also...More
