About
Though not quite the same since a devastating fire in 1994, this famous market is nevertheless a landmark trading post.

Great place to get rid of any residual currency . Plan for last day of trip.
Get ready for some bargains . The things I would buy are dried mangoes , party / holiday/ Hawaiian shirts , cashew nuts , slippers , budget kids toys , souvenirs ... Get there before 4pm as after that the shut down process in the inside of market begins . Equally good bargains to be had outside the market such as belts / shirts / bags etc outside the market even at 10 to 11pm. Get ready to bargain down. Only pay for something that it's worth for you and not the suggested price and then bargain them down . Use a currency converter app such as XE. Bargain well and they will respect you for doing it but stay respectful.

    Fascinating market
The biggest covered market in Hanoi is the Dong Xuan Market in the Old Quarter and parts are wholesale only but there are still plenty of stallholders happy to sell to individual buyers. We were particularly impressed with the many different sizes and qualities of dried shrimps on offer. We found the market a wonderful place for photographing the local people in their natural environment. Well worth a visit.

    Lots to look at!
I love markets, but found I didn’t spend much time here. Everything seemed much the same. I loved that no one was pushy. Markets were inside and lots of fans which was nice! Lots to choose from though, I just found that the shopping probably not as good here as HCMC. But I’d definitely recommend to go if looking for some shopping to do in Hanoi. 🛍️

    don't waste your time!
Nothing great. Just a normal market which caters for locals. Was expecting to buy souvenirs but found none. Don't waste your time. Was expecting to be like Ben Thanh Market, in HCM city.

    Nuts are worth buying there
Quite messy with many workers carrying big loads on their shoulders. Lanes are very narrow and hence difficult to navigate when it gets crowded. Apparels are not yup to fashion. One thing that is worth visiting is the ground floor shops selling nuts. Their prices for the cashew nuts there is the cheapest as compared to other shops else where and supermarkets.

    Not Just Wholesale
Most traveller videos label this Market as a bulk wholesale market, when it's just as regular as other markets. Prices are much cheaper than Ben Tanh in Ho Chi Minh and the variety is also better. The negatives are that alleys are very narrow and congested and that vendors sell at particular times so even if they're seated there and you're wanting to buy they won't sell which was extremely odd.

Largest wholesale clothes hub in Hanoi
Hanoi's largest clothes hub. If you are upto shopping hard, this is the place for you. This is a whole sale market also catering to retail purchase. The ground floor is where the tourists throng about which has all sorts of souvenirs. Bargaining skills will help you get 10-20% less price.

One of the largest market in Vietnam, Dong Xuan market has almost everything under the sun. It is so big that visitors could get lost in the maze. However, it is worth visiting as the stuff sold there were pretty cheap if one is good at bargaining.

Second time I go back to the shop, great leather items and best prices in Hoi Ann.

Well worth visiting the shop if you are in town!

Good location. There were many shops with numerous merchandises including bags, dry fruits, clothes and souvenirs. Reasonable price. The condition was little bit crowded.

A few days ago, a ten inches high iron bar laid across the walkway to Đồng Xuân market knocked at my legs and sent me flying down to the ground. Sadly, people just walked by, no one came to help and no warning signs were visible anywhere. I was told that the obstacles were set to prevent motorbikes from taking over the walkways. This is another example that explains why Vietnam lacks so much grounds where it needs most to attract tourism. It pains me to feel as if nobody cares, no one is in charge at home. A combat obstacle in the middle of the market? Tourists, please beware!

this market is no good if yo are going in there to buy one item this is a wholesale market and what it has been advertised on you tube that you can buy fake t shirts and shoes and all the rest that is completely wrong you cant buy any of that stuff in this market this market is for wholesale stuff only and does not have many shops that sell fake shoes and clothes so if yo are doing your research on you tube and going here to expect you can buy all those brand copies you will be highly disappointed, dont waste your time and money getting grab to get here .
