Though not quite the same since a devastating fire in 1994, this famous market is nevertheless a landmark trading post.

The stall owners were very rude, ignoring my friend and dismissing her with a wave (not even looking at her as they did this) when she politely asked how much to buy several sheets of stickers. We have been to many markets in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia and have never been treated so poorly. It wouldn't hurt to... More

Dong Xuan Market is located in the northern part of the Old Quarter and although the indoor market is not too attractive the area outside where there are many vendors is well worth wandering through, especially if you like to take some good photos. The building consists of two floors and downstairs is mainly clothes, spices and a few souvenir... More

Come here for fake ferragamo belts, GUEEI purses and burbarry. Kidding aside it's a fun market to visit and they have lots of good stuff to haggle prices on. Pick up a souvenir or two here. I bought a hat and some gifts to take home. I only took pictures of the outside. Inside is like a typical flea market.

I went with my wife, this market has everything that you can at other markets, except this market has storekeepers who are very rude, and you leave with the impression they don't really want you there. Go somewhere else if you can.

A lot of stuff you can only purchase in bulk... a lot of women's clothing there. Found the vendors arrogant and would not barter at all. It's too crowded and it seems to be catering for local businesses. Stick to the local shops in the old quarter!

This is not for the faint hearted. In a maze of narrow lanes inside a large building on several floors most everything is traded. Sacks of dried mushrooms, spices, seafood and even live turtles. The latter are stripped of their shell alive and cut to pieces while still moving - outrageous and disgusting.

Eclectic Mix of everything. It seems to be divided by product. Golden rule if you are with company - agree on a meeting place to meet up if you get separated. Its easy to get lost in here. It was interesting to go around with our tour guide. I bought nothing, just savoured the atmosphere. Good to see once. If... More

Dong Xuan Market was close to our hotel. We stopped to visit a couple of times, but only purchased a few refrigerator magnets to give as gifts when we returned home. This is a legit marketplace. It is obvious that locals visit this market as much of the offerings include fresh seafood (to include live turtles), sacks of spices and... More

This is a huge market and is obviously geared towards wholesale purchases rather than the individual. We were looking for shoes and scarves, in particular, and Vendors showed no interest in helping us. Best thing about it is the opportunity to take photos in and around the market! We have visited much more interesting markets in other parts of Southeast... More

A huge market with a very local flavour. The main building is set over 3 floors, but sprawls out in every direction. A decent way to spend half an hour or so.
