The Hanoi Opera House is beautiful. It's located a couple blocks from the southern edge of Hoan Kiem Lake at the head of a roundabout surrounded by high-end commercial buildings with shops like Gucci, clearly in an upscale part of town. The Opera House is a magnificent cream colored structure with columned entrance and intricate French Colonial details. I did... More

I have gone there when nothing is going on and asking several times if I could go inside to see this "magnificent" building's interior. No cameras allowed; no pictures allowed. Maybe they use only stock footage. Who knows, maybe, today, it looks like a stockyard: unless you buy a ticket, you will never know and, even if you do, you... More

An excellent cultural benefit of the old French rule. Wonderful building, European interior, and very attractive honey marble foyer and grand staircase. We attended a ballet performance by the Vietnamese National Ballet, and were pleased by the ability, commitment, colour, and energy of the performance in this very attractive opera house. Expect a more “relaxed” behaviour from the Asian audience!... More

just to see the architecture and to walk around the area is great... I was there a while ago in Nov 2014.. and so I cant remember exactly the name of a great cafe near there ... western style .. just on the corner about 200 meters away on a quasi residential street .. nice cafe.. chill there and good... The opera house, a testament to France's grandeur of times past, is centrally located in Hanoi. It is definitely worth a walk-by. We couldn't enter, not having tickets for a show. So, if you want to tour the interior, either make sure you are part of a tour that ensures interior access or purchase tickets for a show. We did... More

While walking around Hanoi we stumble on the Opera House. After getting through the insanely busy intersection it is located at we made it inside. The Architecture is beautiful. Everything looks hand carved and crafted beautifully. We didn't stay here for long as there we so many tourist inside it was just not worth squeezing through all those people to... More

Hanoi's Opera House is centrally located in Hanoi and the area holds special significance in terms of Vietnam's struggles for independence. The building is well-maintained and its architecture resembles the French style present in much of this part of Hanoi. While it is great to admire the grandeur of the building, getting a view inside could prove more difficult. Unless... More

It is quite a large building, and an interesting interpretation of colonial architecture but if you're short on time, just a quick drive/ scooter past would suffice.

Under the opera house is an excellent restaurant. Very nice setting in the " cellar ". Professional and friendly personnel. The meal was very good and the ambiance more than OK. Nice settingand the prices for the wines were acceptable.

Only viewed from the outside. Impressive and well maintained colonial era building. Unfortunately it sits on one of the major intersections in Hanoi, so view is often partially obstructed by traffic.
