Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and shops in this area. Lots of street food in and around the old city. Traffic is constant and can become an irritation with all modes of transport jostling for space. Nobody stops for pedestrians even though there are pedestrian crossings all over the city. There is a night market on a Friday night with... More

First visit was to book tickets for the Water Puppets, on our way from the airport to the Hotel. We returned to the area in the evening to see the lake, the pagoda and the bustling market. As it was a Sunday, the street on one side of the lake was closed to traffic and there were several entertainment groups.... More

I hurt my knee before my trip so walking was going to be a challenge, so openly welcomed this service. I took one from my hotel to the water puppet show, I paid 100K vnd, which in dollars was not that much however I felt with his look of victory, and hearing the amount shared with every passing tuk-tuk that... Interesting place to visit, wander around, look at the character of the buildings. But.... be careful, you cannot walk on the footpaths most of the time as they are full of parked motorcycles or the locals sat eating. This means you need to walk on the road with traffic coming at you. My husband nearly got his watch smashed due... More

Small lanes and people make this place amazing but beware of the roadside street selling vendors, one woman just caught me and gave her fruit carrier to me and said picture, when I said will you be charging any money for this? She said no money. But after the picture was clicked she said 1lac kip. Which kind of blew... More

Hanoi was our first stop and we stayed in the Old Quarter. Arrived late at night from Canada and went for a walk in the morning. The number of people, bikes, vehicles, street vendors, shops...overwhelming at first but soon settled in to the hustle and bustle. Highly recommend staying in this area when you visit Hanoi.

Hanoi is a dirty city, end of question. In the old quarter you can get a good sense of the local culture with splashes of the touristy side. Sights, sounds and smells are at times overwhelming and could even rival streets in India. Don't expect to walk consistently on sidewalks. Walk confidently across the streets, but keep your head on... More

I found the service and response of this travel agency to be excellent. Easily 5-stars. My emails were promptly responded to, and everyone showed up when they were supposed to. I was extremely satisfied with Vietnam Tours. Mr. Wall, the owner, has proven to be very courteous and helpful from the very beginning, trying to organize at the best our... More

Spent around a week all up (coming back and forth from Sapa, Halong etc) in hanoi's old quarter. There is so much to do and see. Walking around the lake, through the busy market streets, wonderful cafes and restaurants. I especially loved the area around St Joseph's Cathedral. After visiting so many of the churches through Europe, it is not... More
