We went here as part of our tour of Vietnam. It was interesting to learn about the different ethnic backgrounds of the people of Vietnam. We had a guide but I also enjoyed walking around on my own and reading the signs. The different types of houses that were reconstructed on the museum grounds were interesting. They had some nice... While visiting this excellent museum (woth it for the reconstructed minority dwellings alone) I chanced upon one of their outdoor (!) water puppet performances. Very impressive and probably much closer to the original than the indoor ones in Hanoi. I am not sure if they mainly do them for Tet or if this a regular activity at the museum, so... More

We loved this museum . . . it is very accessible for English-speakers, well labeled, with engaging displays explaining the many minority ethnic groups of Vietnam, their culture, and their crafts. We tend to read every label and were able to see all of the main museum and grounds in about three hours.

The museum is about a 20 minute drive away from city center. The inside is 2 floors of local pottery, baskets, wardrobes and handicrafts of different tribes from around Vietnam. It was not interesting to me and I quickly walked through the museum. The displays were not that appealing; However, they did have an outdoor display of sample huts, tents... More

The history lesson was fine but a disappointing collection of artifacts and staged exhibits. Miss it

Museum is quite dated and in need of modernization. There is a story to be told but that story is not told in a very interesting way. I do not recommend this.

I was skeptical about visiting this museum at first but was pleasantly surprised. You follow a path through the museum that teaches you about the various ethnic groups of the region. Instead of just looking at pictures and descriptions, you are able to see beautiful, colorful costumes on display, enriching the experience. Outside, you follow a path through and into... More
