This is the largest lake in Hanoi about 17k right around so nice for a longer walk. There was a lady selling little turtles that you can let go in the lake. I could not help myself and brought a couple to let them free.

The lake is surrounded by garden beds and well maintained. We visited day and night times as on the weekends the roads are closed and the night markets are operating.

It's a great walk around the lake, sadly the rubbish is a bit out of control BUT what people throw on the lake is fascinating. The offerings, shrines, Buddhas, vases, flowers and even goldfish are really different and fascinating

We came there last evening to this very large lake with breeze. Quiet and romantic street, good for loving couples.Such a wonderful place. Look for the Banh tom to have during the relax time by the lake.

A walk on the road around the lake is a great experience. Choose a time around sunset and you will see beautiful city light reflections in the lake.

We tried, but failed to circumvent this lake. We failed because we are not 26 any longer but did manage a hearty chunk. The walk is so enjoyable because as you meader along the edge you run into pockets of "life", you see "life" happening....for example....the day we went there was a group of Vietnamese men with their caged songbirds... This lovely lake that we overlooked from our hotel is in need of some attention rubbish floating on the side dead fish and one day we saw a guy fishing there and at the same time he was urinating into the water?

Even if it located far away from old quarter area but it is worth to visit. The lake is nice and relaxing. Moreover it is not crowded as HoanKiem Lake. You don't have to worry about people who try to sit next to you or worry about your stuff.
