I cycled round the lake in a light drizzle and still enjoyed it. I took it easy (and it's all on the flat, so it is easy) with photo or drink stops and it took me just under 3 hours. I hired my bike from...More

Quieter than Hoan Kiem lake, West Lake is much larger. I have frequently used it for afternoon exercise. Not "pretty", like Hoan Kiem, but there are some nice cafes on the bank as you walk around.

I walked around the whole lake on a chilly day and Im sure on a warm sunny day, the atmosphere must be nicer. There are some nice photo opportunities and if you can, bring a lunch and eat around there.

After all the hectic noise and traffic in Old Quarter, indulge yourself by heading over to West Lake, recline on the lounges, and watch the sunset over the lake and the City. It's a wonderful retreat when the noice gets overwhelming.

I visited today. There was nothing special nor worth visiting. There is a Chinese style temple beside the lake. Just took some picture and left. Less than 20 minutes.
